In school, we learn how to be safe when SCARY things happen!
Sometimes, we practice what we would do if there was a fire in the school.
We QUICKLY but CAREFULLY get in a line, and go outside.

Miss Teacher counts us and holds up a GREEN piece of paper if we are all present. Miss Teacher holds up a RED piece of paper if someone is missing.





This is how she lets other teachers know we need help, and they help us!





I don't like fire drills because the loud alarm is overwhelming!
I like practicing fire drills when it’s sunny and warm outside!














Sometimes, we practice what we would do if there was a tornado!
Whiirrp Whiirrp!!

We go to a different classroom, a bathroom, or a coat closet that has
NO WINDOWS that can break.
STRONG walls


This keeps our bodies safe from falling objects if there was a tornado!
We crouch down by a wall on our hands and knees and COVER our heads with our arms.


I like practicing tornado drills when I can sit with friends from other classes!

I don't like tornado drills because I'm worried about things flying around the room!

And sometimes, we practice what we would do if a dangerous person came into the school.
This is called an intruder drill, a lockdown drill, or a Code Red drill.



Beeep Beeep!!
We turn off the LIGHTS,
lock the classroom DOOR,
and huddle SILENTLY together on the floor.






These steps keep us safe from the dangerous person seeing or hearing us.
