Chapter 1: The Unusual Beginning 

    It was Math class and as usual, Mr. Caulfield was making it as boring as he could by saying, 

"The square root of 64 is 8, the square root

of 121 is 11 and so on." Then to pass time as usual, I asked Mr. Caulfield whether I could use the bathroom. He, as usual, allowed me to go. While I was inside, I heard shouting and slamming noises, but I assumed it was the construction people building the third block of my school, Sunset Spring. And, my name is Sienna. I'm from Nicaragua, and I love taking pictures and my mom even gifted me a camera on my thirteenth birthday, which I have right now in my bag.

When I came back from the washroom and was walking in the corridor, I felt a strange stillness in the air. I just was so curious and had a empty feeling in my stomach, so I decided to open the nearest classroom. When I did, I saw Ms. Penny scrubbing the board, but jone of her students were there. I called her, "Ms. Penny, are you okay?" But no reply came from her side. Then only I realised that it was the greatest mistake that I made, when she turned, i recognized her as a zombie! After she kept her eyes on me, she started to zombiewalk to me. When she reached the door, I slipped on the floor which was wet. Then I pushed her legs and after she lost balance, she fell to the ground floor. I was so scared.

    I quickly ran back to my class 8B, when I entered it, it was completely deserted. Luckily there was no zombie teacher. But I felt like crying because I had no idea what happened and there was no one to update me. Then with a quick thought, I opened my best friend Daphne's desk near mine and saw a note as I predicted. The note is in the next page.

Wow, she even gave me her favourite pen. So extremely sweet of her. Hey wait a second, it seems that someone snatched the paper from her before she could complete writing it. It must be Ms. Lapidus.

"Dear bff, I'm just updating you on what's happening. So to put it in simple words, there is an zombie apocalypse going on and we didn't have time to wait for you when the rescue team came to take us. I felt like crying when Mr. Caulfield said "It's okay. It's just 1 student missing so we needn't wait and risk other's lives." I gave you my favourite pen for a memory. Don't worry, just don't let a zombie bite you for any reason. Well, i will never forget you. We will try to meet at some point, so be safe always & never forget me.     Ms. Lapidus is our Athletics teacher. She is the most impatient person I ever saw in my school life. She must have grabbed the paper before Daphne could have finished. Oh no! That too perfectly when she was about to write the safe place they were taking everyone! Ugh! Why am I very unlucky? And Daphne is also a stupid because she didn't mention the place beforehand telling the story. She should have said the place before everything else. Anyway, I really needed to move on. I remember seeing some videos of saving ourselves from zombies before this apocalypse which was fun, but not now because we are actually in that situation.

    By using the hacks I remembered, I realised I needed some raw materials from my class. I emptied my camera bag which had a strap on it so I could wear it behind me comfortably. I placed my camera back in the bag and packed many other stuff such as safety pins, clips, board pins, some rope I found in our class cupboard and much more sharp and protective items that I could find. When I was organising the things in my backpack, I was thinking of what I would do or where I would live after packing all this. It might give me protection, but what was the use of it? It was a big question mark.

Chapter 2 : Desperately Hungry

    Then, suddenly interrupting my thoughts, my tummy rumbled with hunger. After I became hungry, I planned to go to the cafeteria and seize that place from zombies. There was a connecting bridge from the first block to the second block in the first floor. And the cafeteria was located in the second block's ground floor. So I checked whether the coast was clear in the first floor from the third floor where I was standing in front of my class. It was clear. I stealthily reached the lift and closed it spontaneously checking whether there were any zombies around stalking me.

    While I was in the lift, I realised that I had left my backpack at my class! But I still had my camera hanging in my neck. Then I guessed that I could have a little photo session too while I was a ninja. When the lift door was about to open, I realised that I pressed the wrong button. I pressed floor 2 instead of floor 1. When the door opened for floor 2, a zombie stood there, who I realised was Mr. Nolan my phy Ed teacher. When he came near me into the lift, I swiftly took a piece of rod that stood beside me in the lift, and stricked his head quickly. While the zombie was unconscious, I pressed floor 1 and the door closed quickly. I decided to carry the rod that I found for safekeeping.

    When the door opened for floor 1, I stepped out cautiously with the rod in my hand. There were no zombies, surprisingly. I reached the bridge that connected the second block and the bridge was directly on top of the ceramics classroom. I walked on it and was thinking, 'Wow, this place is so deserted that I have faced only two zombies till now'. After I reached the second block first floor, I ran down the steps and came to the ground floor, which was the cafeteria. I raided the kitchen and storage rooms which were full of food. I filled 2 backpacks with food that would spoil soon, and left the others which could stay a few weeks in a room which I locked and had the key with me.
