Since Sophie was a young girl, she had a deep passion for building robots. Her father had spent hours in the garage building helpful robots, she got inspired. Her dad said “Listen little one, just because it seems impossible, doesn’t mean that it is. You just have to keep on trying and never give up.”

Keep trying and never give up.

After that, her father kept on teaching her everything he knew. She loved nothing more than spending hours working with circuits and programming languages, dreaming up new designs, and imagining all the ways her robots could help people. Her creativity and curiosity knew no bounds, and she was always eager to learn more about robotics and engineering.

In the future, when Sophie was older and in high school, she felt like she could take her talent into the real world. One day, Sophie decided to take her skills to the next level. This college was full of engineers. She had dreamt of going to that college since her father went, and she wanted to prove herself! She had to show off 3 robots for the audition, which was due in 2 months. She worked day and night making the robots. It was a hard journey.

Sophie's first project was a remote-controlled robot called "Gemini Scout". It took her at least 2 weeks to build it. It was designed to help with search missions and rescuing people underground. Although it was only 2 feet tall, it could carry emergency supplies like water and med kits. Sophie worked tirelessly to ensure that Gemini Scout could navigate dark and narrow spaces, making it easier to find and rescue people in need. 1 robot down, 2 robots to go.

Next, Sophie built a robot called "Agribots". This project took up to 3 weeks! These robots were designed to help with picking fruits and vegetables. Her mom is always busy picking fruit and harvesting in her garden. She wanted to help. Unlike other harvesting machines, Agribots could pick delicate fruits like bananas, apples, grapes, and mango's without damaging them. Then picked vegetables and picked the right ones. She made about 10 of these and they came in all shapes and sizes. She showed them to her mom and she was crying with joy. Her mom spent way less time in the garden because of these robots!

However, Sophie faced a setback when trying to create a robot called “Mr. Gower.” Mr. Gower was a robot that was like a nurse who could bring medicine, blankets, and more to patients. While Sophie was building the robot, her mom called her saying “Come eat dinner Sophie '' she said “Coming Mom!” as she was finishing screw driving Mr. Gower, she turned to set it down and the water splashed.

Come eat dinner Sophie
Coming mom!
Electrocutes came out of the robot as smoke came out of Mr. Gower. Sophie started crying, crying with pain. She had already spent 6 weeks on the robots and only had 2 left. She was about to give up, saying stuff like “I’m a failure” and “I’ll never be able to recover” but then she remembered. When her dad used to make mistakes, he would take a breather, and start over and make it even better! She calmed down and started planning something even better.
