Dear diary,
My name is Lucinda and I am Cinderella’s only step-sister. Everyone thinks they know the story
of Cinderella but in reality, they don’t. I am going to tell you how it really happened.
You know the story of Cinderella, a lonely girl with evil stepsisters and an evil stepmother. Then
one night she gets a visit from a fairy and then she is married to the Prince! Well that’s not how
it happened. I am Cinderella’s only stepsister and I am not a mean cruel monster that
everyone thinks I am. I am actually very nice. Cinderella on the other hand never does what
she is told and is as rude and as disobedient as can be, and I am going to tell you the truth
about those few days.
Once upon a time in the far away kingdom of Otnorot, lived a girl named Cinderella. She lived
with her step sister Lucinda (that’s me) and her step mother. Cinderella was always
misbehaving and causing trouble. She was always being punished; mother had to force her to
do chores in order to discipline her and that just made Cinderella angrier. Her anger made her
cause trouble and gets punished again; it was a never ending cycle.

One day a messenger came with three invitations to the annual disco party. This year was different, the Prince was
looking for a wife and he was to pick someone from the party! If only Cinderella hadn’t put worms in our salad
yesterday mother wouldn’t have prohibited Cinderella from going to the dance. When I saw her spirits truly
crushed, I wanted to help her. I went to vase in the foyer to find that the fairy Godmother application I had I had
hidden there years before. I grabbed it, filled it out and put it in the vase. When I heard a whoosh I looked in the
vase and saw that the application had disappeared.
The next day, Cinderella said that a charity wagon was coming around to collect old jewelry and formal wear.
Mother gave her some old jewelry and I gave her a dress. Cinderella was lying about the charity wagon and she was
using the materials to make her own outfit for the disco. Just as she was finishing her outfit mother walked in and
had a fit.
She tore up the dress; Cinderella was devastated and ran out to the garden to cry.
I looked at Cinderella as she was sobbing in the garden and said:
“Fairy if you are coming now would be a good time to do it.”

Just like that I heard a twinkling, I turn around to see a fairy she salutes me and said “Sugar Plum the fairy here,
reporting for duty”
“Well sugar plum I need your help”
“Anything you need I will do with a few rules; you may not wish for love, you may not ask to get yourself out of
trouble and I am yours for a week unless you give me to someone else, in that case I am theirs for life. In order
to
summon me please say: Come fairy I need you.”
“Ok perfect, I need you to help my step sister Cinderella go to the disco, she is the girl crying in the garden and
my
mother will not let her go. You said I can’t use you to get myself out of trouble but can I ask you to get someone
else
out of trouble?”
“It’s highly unusual but it is still allowed.”
So with a wave of her wand she proofed us to the garden in front of Cinderella.
Just before Cinderella could turn around I jumped behind a bench so she couldn’t see me. She saw the fairy and
shrieked

Who, what are you and why are you here?"
"Why silly girl I am here to take you to the disco"
"How do you know about the disco?"
"A fairy Godmother always knows what is needed. Now come here and let me fix you up"
With a wave of her wand she turned the garage into a limo and the apples into servants. She gave Cinderella a
gorgeous lavender dress and diamond heels, all I had were a pair of glass slippers and a dark blue dress.
Thankful, Cinderella said,
"It’s beautiful but what about all the chores that I was supposed to do tonight. If my step
mother sees me she will make me do chores for the rest of my life. "
With another wave of the fairy’s wand the house was cleaned and all the chores that were supposed to take
Cinderella
all night were done in about 1.5 seconds. The fairy put a spell on Cinderella so that her family would
not recognize her. I did not know who she was.

"Now remember Cinderella all this magic but one spell of your choice will wear off at midnight so take your pick
what
do you want to keep; the dress the recognition spell or the clean house?" the fairy asked.
"I pick the clean house"
Shocked at what I had just seen, I got in the car t go to the disco and hoped that this would work. Cinderella's
limo was
right behind us the whole time; I hoped that mother would not notice.
I saw all the single women in the kingdom dancing near the Prince’s throne trying to get the Prince to notice and
dance
with them. I could tell that he was not having a good time. The Prince’s father said
"I am sorry I am making you choose a bride tonight but it has to be done. Your years of tom foolery have to stop
and a
wife will be the perfect solution. Smile a little and dance with some of these women. Who knows, you might have
something in common with some of them.”
At that moment, the lights went dim and both doors opened for Cinderella’s grand entrance, she was lit by
spotlights and
I heard the Prince say,
"Hubba hubba"

When Cinderella was dancing, the Prince was pacing practicing how to ask her to dance with him
so I said "fairy Godmother I need your help". I saw a twinkle and the fairy appeared on my
shoulder. I asked her to give him the courage to talk to Cinderella. With a wave of her wand
the Prince straightened up and with a determined look on his face he walked up to Cinderella.
At that moment a conga line swept me up so I couldn't hear what they said. As the conga line
danced down the steps, I lost a shoe. I kept dancing with only one shoe. After the line broke
up I went back to the steps to find my shoe only to find the Prince and Cinderella. I notice that
my shoe was under the back of Cinderella’s dress. Before I could ask for it back I realized what
time it was and remembering the fairy’s rule I yelled
"Midnight”!
Cinderella looked at the clock tower to find that I was right. She quickly apologized to the Prince
and ran off. As she left I saw my shoe but the Prince picked it up first and started calling after
her.

She didn’t hear him so he put the shoe down and walked away. I ran up to him and said
“So you’re just going to let her go? Chase after her.”
“What’s the point? She’s already gone”
“Use the shoe; go door to door trying to find her. When you do marry her because you love her”
I started walking away when he said
“I don’t get it.”
“Pardon” I say.
“Why aren’t you trying to take me for yourself like all the other girls here are”?
“I know who that girl was and she needs you more than I do”. I walked away before he could say
anything else.
As soon as Cinderella got home everything went back to normal (except the house, which was
still clean).
When mother and I came home to a clean house and the list on the door showing that
Cinderella had finished the chores mother mumbled
“The little beast got away with it this time.”
I ran up to my room and summoned the fairy Godmother and I asked her to have my mother go a little
easier on Cinderella, to still punish her but don’t make them so big and maybe someday she would be
able to have unforgettable nights like this, by herself with no help.

The next day the Duke came to the door with a special announcement.
“The Prince found a shoe that belongs to a very special girl. Everybody who fits the shoe will go
to the royal palace where the Prince will meet them and tell them if they are the girl he is
looking for. If you are the right girl the Prince will marry you.”
When mother saw the shoe she was overjoyed. She recognized that it was mine and that we
would go to the palace leaving Cinderella to tend to the house while we were having fun. I
quickly summoned the fairy Godmother because I know that my feet are 2.5 sizes bigger than
Cinderella’s and that is my shoe!
