Change is good, but if all else fails hair grows back.

"Mia", my mom yelled to me from down the stairs. It's time for her to braid my hair for school. She braids my hair in two long braids everyday.

OUCH!
I yelled as she pulled a loose stand tight!
OUCH! OUCH!
I started to squirm from her grasp, but she held on tight.

My mom softened her grasp and whispered in my ear, "Mia, I've been telling you. If you no longer want braids you need a haircut".

She was right. I no longer wanted to wear my hair in braids, but a haircut?
That sounds scary!
What if I don't like it? What if everyone in my class laughs at me?

Another tug on the hair from the back of my head helped me decide.
"Okay Mom, I want a haircut."

On the drive to the salon that weekend my stomach filled with butterflies, they flapped their wings to my heartbeat. I was indeed nervous!
