Hi, my name is Manny the Martian, and I am
going to show you how the solar system was
formed.
The solar system was created because of a
thing called the big bang.
The big bang started as small material that
after colliding together created material. That
material expanded and became very hot.

The sun was formed when all the hot material after
the big bang started to move together by a force
called gravity.
Most of the material that formed the sun is
hydrogen gas with a little bit of helium gas too.
An interesting fact, because the sun is not solid so
when it rotates parts of the sun do not rotate at
the same time.

The first planet is Mercury. Mercury is the smallest planet, and
it has no atmosphere. I can't live on Mercury because it is to
hot.
Mercury was formed almost the same way as the sun, by
gravity. Rock like material started to get pulled together to
make the planet.
The second planet is Venus. Venus is a very strange planet.
It's landscape has a lot of volcanoes and craters. It also spins
backwards!
Unfortunately, there is no life on Venus because the
atmosphere traps the heat from the sun making it very hot. Its
air is also made of many toxic elements like carbon dioxide,
nitrogen, and sulfuric acid.

Earth is next. Earth was formed after the big bang, like all
the other planets. At first it was small debris colliding
together, but eventually the debris started to stick together.
Earth started to grow bigger and the gas that was helping
keep it together made it very hot and molten, like lava. Then,
Earth started to cool and the lava started to harden.
Earth is the only planet that we know of to have the
amount of water it has. It is the only known planet to sustain
life too!
The next planet is Mars, the red planet. Mars is a solid
planet like Earth, Venus, and Mercury. Its thin atmosphere is
made of carbon dioxide, argon, and Nitrogen. Also, the iron
minerals of metal start to rust and dust which gives it the red
color.
