Alex's parents loved her very much and 

always made sure she was happy.

she would 

answer.

If by chance she wasn’t, 

they would always find a way to 

change that and make her happy 

and smile again.

But one day Alex noticed something that she never 

had before. She noticed that not everybody was 

happy and smiling like her.That not everybody had 

somebody to cheer them up when they where sad, 

like her parents did with her.

Alex did not like that, and so she asked her parents 

how she could make those people feel happy and                                           

smile again. 

replied her father,

Alex thought a lot about 

that, but she could not 

think of a reason that 

could possibly make all 

of those people 

unhappy. So she decided 

to consult her mother on 

it, since it was nagging 

at her so much.

"Great idea!" Alex 

exclaimed joyfully, 

a smile on her face 

and excitement 

bubbling in her 

stomach, "I'll do 

just that! Thanks 

mom!"

That night Alex lay in bed all 

night thinking about her 

mothers words until she fell 

asleep.

she thought to 

herself, her heavy 

eyes drooping shut.

She thought of it so much, 

she dreamt about them! 

About all the things that 

made her happy like her 

friends, family, toys and 

many other things. She knew 

she would be sad if they were 

gone, and understood what 

her dad had meant. But how 

could she bring all of those 

happy things   to everybody?

That morning when 

Alex woke up, she had 

the most brilliant idea 

ever! She knew how to 

make   everybody's 

frown turn upside 

down! She didnt need 

to know why they were 

sad, she only needed to 

make them happy. She 

jumped out of bed and 

ran to tell her parents 

the good news.

her parents responded 

simultaneously.

"By giving them the 

one thing in 

common that they're 

all missing!"

Cried Alex blithely, bounding 

down the stairs, her voice shrill 

with enthusiamsme.
