to my mom

“MOMMMMM!’’ Sally screamed out in anger.
“What is it this time, Sally??” Mom said as she walked into her room.
Paint everywhere. On the windows, the bed, the ceiling, and the floor. Sally was head to toe in paint standing next to her easel.
“Mom, Molly had one of her episodes again,” Sally said furiously, her painting ruined.
Molly stood there shocked.

Molly and Sally are sisters. Sally is 10 and Molly is 7. Molly has tourettes and can't control her actions sometimes. During class, important work calls, sleep time at daycare, and even standing in line at a store, Molly has tourettes.

One night Sally was sleeping peacefully in her room. Her birthday was the next day and she was sleeping smiling ear to ear. Molly had cooked Sally a breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausages, and orange juice. With moms help, However, as Molly entered the room, her hand ticked and she dropped the entire breakfast tray onto Sally. Sally was angry and too mad to notice the nice gesture as she was wiping orange juice off of her sheets.
“You ruin everything!” Sally shouted at Molly. She stormed off to get ready for school.

Later that day at school, Sally told the story to her friend Curry. Curry is very empathetic for his age, he understands people very well and has a good read on situations. One time his teacher lost her favorite scarf and Curry put himself into her shoes. He helped her and even bought her a new scarf.
“You should be nicer to Molly,” Curry said, shrugging.
“She ruins my life, anything I do she messes it up!” Sally argued back.
“She tries to do nice things for you but it's like you only see the mistakes she makes.” Curry seemed to be furious as well, for different reasons.
“You don’t understand, you will never understand how hard it is to be her sister.” Sally started to tear up.
“Molly is special. You need to understand her condition first. She can't control when she accidentally spills something or says something. You are very lucky to have Molly as a sister, she is always doing something for you. I see it all the time. You have to repair your relationship with her before it's too late.”
“I just want a normal sister who isn't different.”
“I understand that but listen to me. Give her a second chance,''
Later that night when Sally got home she saw her sister at the table coloring. She watched as Molly had tick after tick, it was hard to watch. Her coloring did not stay in the lines because of her ticks, yet it was still a work of art.

Sally started to understand what Molly had to deal with. Sally had to deal with Molly's ticks only 50% of the time but Molly had to deal with it 100% of the time. She imagined how frustrating that could be. So she put herself into Molly's shoes. Sally felt bad and thought she had been too harsh on Molly, so she decided to try to make Molly feel better.

“Hey Molls..” Sally said guiltily.
“H-h-hi Sally,” Molly stuttered with a big smile.
Sally thought how could she still be so happy after I have been so mean..
“Want to go bake some cookies?!” Sally said proudly.
“You mean it, what if I m-m-mess up?” Molly said, ashamed.
“It will be okay, we can clean up messes. Let's go, I know chocolate chips are your favorite!” Sally said, racing to the kitchen. Molly followed her excitedly.
