One fine morning in the heart of the forest
Animals of all kind gathered around a tree
Leaning on the tree was the proud little rabbit
Saying – "No one in the forest is as fast as me!"

            The fox and the squirrel
            The gazelle and the doe
            All nodded their heads
            And agreed – "It is so…"

   The rabbit was feeling extra proud
   And wanted to boast in his glory
   "I challenge you all to a race to prove that
    No one in the forest is as fast as me!"

Silence was heard throughout the forest
Not one of the animals dared
Just then the turtle walked slowly to the rabbit-
"I will meet your challenge – I'm not scared!"

So the race was set for the following day
Everyone was sure the rabbit will win
For they all knew the simple fact
No one in the forest was as fast as him.

The morning of the race came
And everyone gathered to see
At the starting line stood the rabbit and the turtle
"The race begins on the count of three!"

They all counted – One, Two, Three
And off went the rabbit and the turtle
While the turtle walked slowly and steadily
The rabbit ran ahead without any hurdles

After a few moments the rabbit stopped running
Where the turtle was he wanted to see
When he didn't see him he decided to rest
Under the beautiful big oak tree

"I have plenty of time" thought the rabbit,
And decided to nap peacefully
"I'm not worried about winning the race -
No animal in the forest is as fast as me!"

                The proud rabbit fell asleep
                While the turtle kept on walking
                With each determined step
                He got closer to winning
