in an old & quaint town named, fogle, there was a young precocious child named, "dallas." dallas was known in the local town to be, not only, a lover of literature, but also....

the hidden world of, witches.

it was always on the eve of halloween that dallas would sneak out of her parents' home. not to secure candy early. but, in fact -- with her cat and broom -- to find the ugly, smelly, and dangerous group of eight, goblins:

dare, devil, deviant, defiant, dootie, detour, deputy & decay,

the eight goblins were known to steal the joy out of halloween. and not only that, but they also would -- as they would call it -- "confiscate" the costumes and candy from kids. how rude! 

However, this year, dallas made it a point to put an end to it. she knew that someone would have to fight against the goblins, not only to help the kids enjoy halloween, but to also transform the goblins from evil creatures, to creatures of community -- or, simply stated, "the nicest creatures in the world."

so, on the eve of halloween, dallas had a plan.....

so, dallas, being the great investigator she is:

she decided not to find all eight of the goblins, but to meet the one goblin who had the key to stop all of this halloween eve, madness. that's right! you all guessed it: the one and only, dootie!  you see, readers: dootie was not all that -- let's be honest -- "smart." dallas knew that dootie was her way into, not only the hidden cave, but also into the heart(s) of his siblings. so, what did she do, you all ask?!  she gave him a piece of unforgiving & cursed candy. something he had never had, she offered to him. that is: if he would make a secret deal with her...

one that he could never return from. 

upon agreeing to dallas' deal, he immediately took the candy and chewed it up into the smallest of pieces. however, what he did not know was that, as stated previously, it was cursed. that is right, you all. it was cursed. due to the fact that dallas was such a "once-in-a-lifetime" witch, with the ability to  infuse the candy with the curse of goodness. 

so, immediately after the cursed candy navigated to the bottom of dootie's belly, he found himself wanting to help the children of, fogle, experience the pure joy of halloween! 

however, what about his siblings, right?!

i welcome you all to old man, "karl." 

now that dallas was able to trick dootie with the cursed candy of goodness, she needed a secret weapon to help her & dootie convince the other seven goblins to join the community -- and leave behind the dark life of destroying the halloween spirit and the blooming excitement of young people.  karl was known in, fogle, as, "the man of the hidden books." it would be, "karl," who would have the necessary book which would turn the seven goblins to seven green helpers of pure halloween goodness. 

out of karl's 1,848 -- or, was it 2,848? -- books in his library, there was one special book. the book was entitled, "from harm to heal: the book of magic and spells." in this book, karl memorized an incantation which would transform the goblins into good human helpers. that even includes, the not-so-smart, dootie.  oh, and dallas, being the wise investigator she is, begged mr. karl to recite the incantation in order to save halloween; both this year and in the years moving forward. and, mr. karl, without hesitation, leaped up to help dallas and the city of fogle: as he wanted the children to skip around town with the joy that all children deserve to feel. 

and therefore, off they were to the forest. yep, that includes, dootie!
