There once was a king named 

King Midas. He had everything 

that he wanted, a loving wife  

and a beautiful kingdom called 

Phyrgia, the land of the roses.

One day, an old drunkard, Silenus, came 

to the palace and fell asleep. His 

punishment was that he had to lead King 

Midas to the God, Bacchus. 

Bachus, thankful to the King for returning 

his friend, said that he would grant him 

one wish 

The King tried to think of something he 

loved. 

"That's it!" he exclaimed, "Gold!" 

Then, King Midas wished that everything 

he touched would be turned into gold 

immediately.

Bacchus could see that this 

may become a future problem 

but granted the wish anyway.

At first, everything was going 

great. 

The king was having fun 

turning his household items 

into gold.

The first major problem came 

when it was time for KIng 

Midas to eat dinner. 

Before he could put the food in 

his mouth, it would turn to 

gold.
