Pitch Clock Implementation

In 2023, a new rule was added to speed up the time of games.

Pitchers now have 15 seconds to wind up with no runners on base. 

They have 20 seconds when there are players on base.

Batters also only have until there are 8 seconds left on the pitcher's clock to be ready in the batting box 

Larger Bases

Before, the bases were only 15 by 15 inches in perimeter. 

In 2023, they increased the size of the bags by 3 inches making them 18 by 18 inches.

Designated Hitter

Before 2022 there was no such thing as a Designated Hitter. It was more so a role that was unspoken.

In 2022, they created Designated Hitter, a new position in baseball. This is also known as "DH" and can now be assigned to a player.

Instant Replay

Instant replay was originally only used when the umpires or the box deemed that it was very necessary. 

In 2014, the MLB created a new rule where managers are now given the right to challenge certain plays.
