Paul Quin Thompson and Alma Jean Carter, two of the best people I have had the honor of knowing. Not many people get to grow up with their great grandparents, I know I am blessed to know mine. Here is the best love story I have ever been told. Their story.

Many years ago, in Porterville, California, my great grandpa was working the day shift at his local grocery store. It was a normal day for him. Until he met my great grandma, walking in front of the store while sweeping outside.

Her friends were with her, but he didn't care. He ran right up to her and asked her right there to take her on a date. It was crazy, but she agreed, they set a time and place and went on their ways.

They had their first date out on the town...
Then their second...
And a third...

And after 6 months...they had their wedding. It's crazy to think how fast it happened! But they were in love, and when you know, you know.

They took their vows to heart, they loved each other through everything, for over the 50 years they were married.
Grandma Gigi and Papa Gigi moved to Arkansas shortly after my grandma and her sisters were born. To start a new life here, and it is where they have been since.
In April of 2013, my Grandma Gigi passed away after being sick. She taught me many things while I knew her. How to sew, bake, draw, and how she would beat me in every game of chicken foot we played.
Papa Gigi is still with us at 97. I know he misses her more than anything in the world. He still talks about her, how she would correct him every time he told a story 'wrong', and she would pester him to not get on the roof again and to get someone else to do it!
One thing is for sure, growing up seeing a love like theirs, I wanted the same thing for me and my sisters.
We miss you Gigi. You will forever live on in our memories.
We love you, a bushel and a peck. And a hug around the neck.
