how we celebrate Christmas in New Zealand.

Christmas
by Bodelle
Bright twinkling lights,t insel glimmering in the moonlight. Staring at the beautiful Christmas tree. Sniffing in
that fresh pine smell of the tree. Brightly coloured presents under the tree I just want to rip into them as if I
was were a cat scratching a ball of yarn. Orange carrots for the reindeer, cookies, milk and beer for Santa.
Lying in my warm cozy bed. A load of things going through my head, is he here yet, has he already came. It
was definitely one of the hardest nights to get to sleep.
Excitement rushing through my brain. He's come there will be presents under the tree and it will be the best
Christmas ever. Dashing into Mum and Dads room,
“It's Christmas!”
They must have thought it was a robber because oh boy did they leap. Rushing into my brother’s room,
instead of yelling in his face I thought it would be better to jump on him.
Stomping down the stairs as if I was aunt cracker marching in front of a castle. Just how I imagined, presents
were under the tree and all over the lounge carpet. There were big ones small ones, oh how I wanted to rip
into them. Not being able to open them until we were at my Nana’s house was a big hassle.
Ham, roast chicken and lots more. Playing with my cousins and family in the pool. We will play cricket,
volleyball and lots more. Even if I didn't get presents ,what really makes me happy is being around my family.
Finally it's time to go and open the presents, I wonder what I got. The family tradition well, it's not really a
family tradition but the parents buy the presents and the kids clean up the mess. So this is how my Christmas
is. I can't wait to hear, what you do for Christmas?

My Christmas Day
by Sam N
Glimmering lights shining up the room, its so bright I can barely see. We are at
Hahei (a beach) ,this year, I’m jumping out of my shoes I can't wait until
Christmas day. A towering tree in the room, the walls are lit with colors from the
lights and still no presents because its Christmas eve. My brother and my
cousins are so excited I still can’t guess what my presents are going to be.
Now we are eating our delicious dinner, my dog is glaring at it while we eat, it’s
creepy. Right now I’m jumping up and down shouting out,
“Christmas is tomorrow!”
Now it was time to go to bed. I race to bed hoping to go to sleep fast so I can
find my presents in the morning. Yawwn I say that just as I passed out.
Aaaaaaa! “It’s Christmas,” I shout out, “It’s Christmas.” I run down to the
lounge but I have to wait until everyone is awake. So I wake up my brother, my
brother wakes up my mum and dad and then everyone wakes up, yes! I look
around and there they are presents! Rip rip! Now we’re done, there’s like a
jungle of presents and wrapping paper Wow.

My Christmas Story by Gezamae
Christmas Eve the day before Christmas. Lights flashing and presents under the tree. My heart
was pumping 1000 beats per minute. No one could stand waiting all night and day. Hot flaming
sun slowly switching into the sunset. Nan's house was piled and piled with people inside.
Leaving one bottle of beer and a bucket to spew in for Santa. Pavlova, strawberry pudding, jelly
and ice cream was settled for desert. Roast chicken was going to be roasted for supper the next
day. Huge, long, narrow and fat presents were held under the green fat branchy fake tree in the
corner .
Aunties and uncles and cousins were deciding on who was going to be the two little elves and the
one big Santa. Of course the two little elves are two little children and the one big Santa is one big
parent.
"Kids ready for bed" I grump to all the others. My mood couldn't be like this on the day.
My mum rests me into my bed but my eyes were still unsecured and couldn't shut them. I hear
Nan wander around the hallway so I slowly bounce off my bed and landed on the carpet.
"Nan can we please open two presents plleeeaaasssee," no one can resist this little face. So she
decides to open two presents. Mum was really cross with me especially if she hasn't had enough
sleep. Time was running out so Mum says,
“No let's wait until the real Christmas Day.”
"It's arrived the day is here" my cousin and sisters shout. They jump on my bed " Gezi, Gezi it's
Christmas get up now." 7:53 the time said on my watch. Argghh. When everybody was up we
rushed to the living room and....... Err errr crackle crackle, there goes our Christmas.

Matthew’s Christmas
Christmas Eve one of the most exciting days of the year. Looking at all the presents under our
green and white christmas tree with all the beautiful lights hanging down.
“Night time’” said Mum announced.
“Oh!” I said.
“If you don’t go to bed now Santa won’t come.”
“Oh,”
Ring, ring went my alarm clock waking me up “IT”S CHRISTMAS,” I screamed, “Mum, Dad get
out of bed now, it’s Christmas.
“Go back to sleep it’s only 7.00 am in the morning.” “
“I don’t care I want to open my presents now.”
“Go and have breakfast first, then we will open the presents.
“Yay,” I said. So I zoomed down the hallway to get a yogurt.
“Yum, yum, I said to myself.
“Presents,” screamed my sister running down the hallway excitedly jumping up and down.
Finally Mum and Dad got up and we got to open our presents.
“Yes, yes, yes I got a WWE figure called Randy Orton. Thank you, thank you, thank you santa,”
racing to show Mum and Dad.
After we finished opening all the presents we went to my Grandad's to have lunch. I couldn't
wait . As soon as we arrived we had lunch. I had ham and chicken, it was really yummy.
Then we had pudding. I had pavlova and ice cream.
“Yum, yum,” I said, Now it was time to go home. I had a wonderful Christmas.

Toaiti’s Christmas
Christmas Eve, lights flashing, presents under the tree. As I got more excited
every second, jumping up and down. But as I walked towards the tree I saw lots
of decorations clipped on to the tree. Just then, I saw all those amazing wrapped
presents underneath that Christmas tree, flashing brightly into my face.
As I quickly bolted to the presents, touching and feeling them. But as I touched
them, I was shaking with excitement. So I suddenly yelled, “
I WANT TO OPEN MY PRESENTS!!!”
So after that I shuffled happily into my bed, waiting for it to be morning. My eyes
were wide awake, thinking in my head, I can’t wait to open them.
Following that it became morning. So I quickly woke up at 7:00 am and jumped
on to my Mum and Dad to wake them up, also my Nana and Papa. They
suddenly woke up, then I sprinted into the lounge singing,
“It’s Christmas.”
So we began to call out our names to rip open the presents. I ripped my first
present, then I ripped all of my presents. Then we ate all the candy canes off the
tree. Next we had an amazing lunch after our amazing christmas. That’s what we
do for our Christmas every year.

My Christmas
by Tom
Ho, ho, ho Santa is coming to town tomorrow. I can't wait. We're
standing the tree up ready to decorate it. At about 8:00 om we go and
stare at the fantastical wonderful lights, they are so bright. If you
stare at them long enough you can get blinded. We leave a plate of
cookies and a bottle of beer for Santa.
I wake up and spring out of bed and look in my stocking. My mum and
dad got a shock as me and my brother leaped on them in bed. Finally
they came out and opened the presents. I got just what I wanted.
For dinner it's all about turkey, ham, meat and vegies. Dessert time.
We have a trifle, jelly, ice cream, that's Christmas over.

CHRISTMAS
By Chelsea
It’s one of those super stuffy nights in the middle of summer as you
walk up to your room at 10:30 at night . As I get in to my pjs and
jump into bed I slowly fall to sleep.
“The window are open so’s that door, wait what am I singing”. As I run
across the hall yelling,
“ It’s Christmas! “ Jumping on Dad, then suddenly he wakes up and …
aaaaaa I suddenly I fall off the bed .
Running down the hall sitting in front of the Christmas tree with my
Santa sack full to the top. As I grab one of my presents, I tear it open
.
As I sit down to eat lunch with all of my new toys .
"Dinner, " mum yells.
“Yay roast at the beach, it couldn’t get any better”

Bradley’s Christmas
Looking out the window. I went into my warm bed
waiting for Santa to come. So excited for Santa to come
to my house. Leaving beer out for Santa. The next
morning Santa has come and he got some me presents.
After the fun bit, we got to have the nice lunch that was
chicken and salad. It was the best Christmas ever.
Santa gave me lots of presents. After lunch we played in
the sand and waves which were crashing on me hard.
Also we went playing on the playground.

Christmas
By Aidan
Staring at the Christmas tree examining every single inch, taking
photos in my head. The Christmas tree is as crazy as my brother.
Decorations all in random places, it's all different. Awake on the couch
determined not to go to sleep. Sophia lets me in her bed. We play on
our electronics all night until we hear jingle bells and a thump on our
front porch. Closing my eyes and hoping he doesn't know I'm awake.
Whispering to Sophia,
“I'm going to see Santa,” but before I could Sophia jumped on me like
she was going to do a belly flop in a pool. That was when we hear the
jingle bells get fainter and fainter until we can no longer hear it. I glare
at Sophia with an angry look on my face. Suddenly we conk out, me
and Sophia. Waking up finding presents under the tree but before I
thought about opening them I said to myself what happened last night?
BEACH!!!!!!!!!!! I screech.

My Christmas story
by Drew
Smiling with glee, it’s Christmas Eve, getting ready to snuggle in the sheets, was as warm as
the summer glow. Of cause its summer, thinking about Christmas day, wondering what
presents I will get. I will just have to wait and see
Next Day I sprinted to see the presents, just looking at them I felt in the mood to rip the
wrapping right open like my puppy trying to rip up her kennel but it was too early, my family
was asleep So I had to be patient.
“Finally!” I said. At 6:30 am we got to open the presents, I was so excited to open them, they
were the best toys!
Using the presents was my favourite part about Christmas. After ripping the Christmas
wrapper I use them, they are awesome presents. Every year they last a year till next
Christmas.
Lunch, we usually have buns with chicken, cheese, ham, luncheon, and Watties tomato sauce,
its delicious.
Dinner, we have roast chicken and vegetables. For dessert we have pavlova, a delicious cake
kind of thing made of meringue. Then bed ready for Boxing Day.

Ella’s Christmas Story.
Christmas tree swaying majestically in the moonlight in the living room. Staring at all of the tinsel and
all of the presents tempted to open them and see what’s inside. The angel staring down on all of the
presents.
“Ella, Greer its time for bed,” “But, but it’s early.” “Don't you want Santa to come.”
“Fine.” So I say goodnight to everybody and head off to bed. But before I go to bed, I brush my
teeth, so nice for tomorrow. Once I've done my stuff I jump into my cuddly bed.
Sleeping restlessly wriggling in my bed but I finally get to sleep. 8:00am, me and my sister Greer are
awake so we go and sprint to wake my kiwi cousin Joel up and then he wakes up his dad. Me and
Greer run back into Mum and Dad's room and wake them up.
So Mum, Dad ,me,Greer, Joel, Uncle Richard are all up. Now we just have to wait.
“Ok, now everyone all go into the living room. Sprinting into the living room trying to beat my sister
and Joel to the presents.
“Mum can we wake poppa up because everyone is up except for him, so can we?”
“No.”
“Why not?”
“Because I said so.”
Finally Poppa is up. Yay, it’s time to open the presents.
“Here you, here you go, Ella, here you go Joel, here you go Greer.”
Once we have finished all of the presents it was time for lunch. “Yay, lunch. Mum what are we
having?”
“A golden brown roast.”
“Thanks, and when will it be ready.”
“In about in 20 minutes, ok.”
“Ella, Greer, Joe,l it’s time for lunch.”
Everyone is at the table not knowing what to eat first??? Excusing myself from the table, I had a lovely
lunch.
I had the best day, so that is my Christmas in New Zealand.

The Night Before Christmas
by Eva
Hoho! Here we go, is Santa almost here. Ha, Christmas it is my favorite time of year. Excitement
going through my brain, is he here has he been or is he still on his sleigh?
What did I get, what is the thing that I will like the most. Have I naughty, have I been good, will I get
a present. Will it be stationery, will it be a cheerleader bow or cheerleader gear. Even if I don’t get
something I want, I would still have what I got, because I know that Santa loves everyone.
Clip clop, what’s that, is that him? Will he eat the chocolate chip cookies? Will he like his present, a
box of Favorites? I really hope he comes, I know I have had some bumps in the year but I really hope
that he knows that I've tried.
It’s early in the morning it’s 4 or 5 o'clock, I go and check my stocking and I find out that he’s been
here. Then I wake up, Mum, Mike, Poppy and scream,
“It’s Christmas day, hooray.” So then we open the presents by the tree and see what we all got.
“I wonder what it that is ?“ Mum would say and I would open it and say, “Thank you, Mum.”
And that’s what my Christmas is like, it’s really fun. I wish it lasted all year but my favorite part of
Christmas is spending time with friends and family.

Hayleigh's Christmas story
Laying flour on the ground pretending it is snow. Putting on shows for Mum, Dad, Auntie, Uncle, Nan
and Grandad. After that we all danced to music.
We asked Mum if we had new pj’s she said,
“Go and have a look.”
There was a bag with new pj’s and a Christmas head band, then we went to bed. We left a big sack on
our bed,
“YAY” Santa is coming.
The next day, me, Jemma and Millie got up really early in the morning about 4:00 a.m and we saw
different sacks on our bed. Millie and Jemma zoomed into Mum and Dad’s room, but I could not pick
mine up so I had to drag it. Then Dad carried it back for me. Our other sack was under the tree and
the other one was filled with goodies.
As we opened our presents I was so happy that I got new things. Then we played with are toys. On
Christmas we don’t really have breakfast, but then for lunch we have melon and watermelon. Then we
have even more fun with are toys. Lastly dinner we have a barbecue and for dessert we have a
meringue.
I had fun day and I had a smile on my face all day.

Christmas Story
Beautiful lights of crystal blue, sparkling things on a pure green tree. I shout out loud,
"It's Christmas Eve the time has come, it's finally here".
I gaze at the Christmas tree and find a whole bunch of presents staring at me ready to be opened one by one.
Suddenly the door starts to open and creak. But it was just my dog in his little Santa hat and his red bells on his
collar. Breezes start to blow through the front door, I step outside to see lights of all colours glowing and
glimmering in the moonlight. Stars in the sky making all kinds of shapes.
Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink, gold and silver was covering the outside of my house, and the real
colours were slowly fading away from the spots of rainbow colours everywhere, as if someone had water balloons
full of paint and they were throwing them at my house.
People calling me telling me to come inside to go to bed. I look at my watch as I slowly trot inside. It was almost
10:00p.m. Finally I was in my soft, cozy, comfortable bed. Dozing off I started to dream about what it would be
like on Christmas day.
Finally it was the next morning so it was Christmas day. I zoomed down the hall and found that my Mum and
Dad were already up and on the couch. So I ran down to my brothers room and belly flopped on him.
Now we were all in the lounge and ready to open some presents. All of us were sitting in front of the Christmas
tree in our PJs. My Dad calls out my name so it is one of my presents. I question myself what could be inside?
By Holly

JAMIE’S CHRISTMAS
Yay, it’s Christmas Eve I’m looking at my tree with my presents underneath. Shimmering blue lights
on it, wow, I wonder what I’m going to get. It’s dark now, just going to bed. While I'm in bed I'm still
thinking of what I’m going to get, maybe some wrestling toys or lego or some more league shorts.
Now Im going to sleep.
Ahhh I wake up.
“It’s Christmas,” I yelled Now sprinting to my mum and dads room and I jump on them and say,
“Wake up, wake up.”
I'm opening my presents, then rush back down to the lounge and I chose this one, it’s medium sized.
I open it and its a WWE battle pack, it’s the USOS, they are the best figures ever and it also comes
with their tag team titles. It’s my next present and it’s some lego movie. Now we’re finished opening
presents and we are going to my Nana’s for lunch and all the family is coming. Also my Aunt, Uncle
and cousins from America are coming to NZ. We are also going to open the presents and me, my
mum and dad are going to give our presents to people that are there.
Now were going to eat dinner and it is chops, steak, chicken, potato, and vegetables and for dessert
we are having ice blocks and ice cream.
Then we go to Waihi for a few days. So that’s what I do for Christmas every year.

Janaye’s Christmas
Christmas Eve, the time of the year has finally come around again. Not one piece of snow to be seen but the
humidity of the suns' hot breath smothering me. Anywhere but here is not the place for me. Presents gazing up at
me as if they were teasing me for having one more sleep until I tear the wrapping paper open and see what's
inside. Everybody knows that the worst thing to happen on Christmas Eve is to get told off, but eventually I made
it happen. Asking if I could open a present the day before Christmas was probably the wrong way to go, especially
with somebody that hasn't had enough sleep.
Bursting out of bed the next morning with a big grin on my face as if I had had steroids weeks before today.
Bouncing off the walls as if they were springy trampolines but then seeing that the cookies that we left out were
gone. Thinking that Santa would leave the cookies was probably the wrong way to go, especially if you've seen the
size of him.
Crunched up carrots, spilt beer and muddy reindeer footprints all over the ground. What a mess!! Christmas is all
about family and friends but most importantly the presents not cleaning up after other people. Something else
caught me eye and within that second I turned around. What could it be... Colourful presents stacked under the
tree, all different shapes and sizes hoping that all of them have my name on it.
Heading to the Christmas tree finding the biggest present to open. Beautifully patterned ribbon along with the
most phenomenal pink, sparkly wrapping paper. Definitely opening that one first. Questioning myself for what
could be inside, what am I going to be playing with in the next 5 mins ?
Within that nanosecond there was a fabulous looking IPhone 6 with a multi-coloured case protecting it... In my
dreams!!!!

CHRISTMAS
By Keegan
Creeping down the hallway sitting near the sliding door waiting for the
others to wake up. I decide to wake my brother up. So I tip toe back
through the hallway and sit on my brother.
I hear him snore really loud, so loud that he wakes himself up! With
blurry eyes he stares at the calendar “25th December” he reads, he
looks at me and says “What’s today?” “Christmas!” I say.
His eyes open widely “OMG” he slams his head on his pillow looks like
he fainted. This time I run and dive at him “WHAT?” he yells at me “Its
CHRISTMAS!”
He pushes me off the bed and kicks off the sheets and Screams “YAY!”
“PREZZIES!” Everyone woke up when he said “PREZZIES” they all
dashed towards the sliding door. The door shot open we sprinted
through the house like maniacs I dived at the couch 3...2...1 I open my
Santa sack I smile ear to ear! THE END

Kiah's Christmas Story
Christmas Eve lights twinkling and colourful tinsel everywhere on the big silver tree. Heaps of huge presents
under it. The tree was standing there majestically in the living room. Glaring at the presents tempted to grab it
and rip it open. But the most important thing is the small, sparkling , silver angel that go's on top of the tree.
"Kiah it's time to go to bed I know you want to stay up but you have to or Santa won't come". " Please Mum let
me stay up a few more minutes". " Santa won't come yelled Mum". " Fine". So I whizzed into bed .I was just
lying there in my bed waiting for it to be the morning to go rip the presents open.
Restlessly sleeping trying to go to sleep but too much excitement is going in my mind so I finally got up and
bolted quietly to my two little Brothers Harlem and Tyler. Guess what Harlem and Tyler were already awake.
Then we scurried and got one present each and dawdled into our Mum and Dads room. We woke our Mum and
dad up and asked if we can open one present she angrily said" NO you have to wait for everyone to get here.
"Yes everybody's here we can open the presents now". There is a way we open the presents the way is we have
let the oldest kids go first then it goes the youngest kids. After around 10 minutes it's my turn to open my
presents. There is also another way we open the presents we have to open the one your parent gave you last.
The last thing we do is have lunch we normally have a barbeque for our barbeque we have sausages, steak and
ham. The vegetables we eat in our salad is Lettuce, tomato, onion, cucumber, egg and capsicum. Every
Christmas I love when we eat because all of my family spend heaps of time together!
