my first day of school!

During the COVID-19 pandemic, my life took an unexpected turn. Right in the middle of my first year and a half of high school, everything changed. In-person classes became a thing of the past, and overnight, my classroom transformed into my computer screen. For two years, I did not physically step foot in the school; Instead, my routine was limited to a space at home where, day after day, I connected to digital platforms to continue my education.

Time seemed to blur between tasks, video calls, and emails. I spent most of the day in front of my computer, listening to voices behind the screens trying to keep up with an education that now felt distant. Leaving the house was a luxury that health restrictions did not allow, so my days were almost identical, except for one detail that made them special: visiting my grandmothers.

Those moments with them broke the monotony. Although our conversations were brief, they reminded me that there was a world beyond the four walls of my room. With them I shared not only food or stories, but also an emotional bond that became stronger despite the distance from the rest of the world. Those visits were my escape, my anchor in a sea of isolation.

Although online learning presented numerous challenges, I adapted. I took advantage of the time at home to focus on my studies, striving to keep my motivation afloat amidst the uncertainty. There were difficult days, but I always found ways to keep going.

Finally, after so long, the day I had been waiting for arrived: my graduation. It was an event full of emotions. I was finally able to reunite with my classmates, those faces I had only seen for months through small digital windows. The laughter, hugs, and words shared in person made it all worth it. That day I realized that, despite the obstacles, I had managed to overcome a crucial stage in my life.
