Different colours can be

made  by mixing two 

"primary colours" together, primary colours are: yellow, red and blue, 

to what we call

 "secondary colours",

secondary colours are:  purple, orange and green.

Adding black to a colour

would make it darker and

Adding white to a colour would

make it lighter. Black and white

 aren't colours, they are shades.
