There was once a little girl named Emily who was
secretly naughty but everyone thought she was nice.
When Santa was watching Emily he saw her clean up
her brothers mess then break something and blame it
on her dog! Santa was very confused and wasn't sure
what to do so he went to talk to his elves. "Hello buddy."
Santa said "I have a big problem." Buddy the elf was
very worried. "What is the matter Santa?" Buddy Asked.
Santa then explained everything. "I have the perfect
idea!" Said buddy, then they headed off to the magic
making room in the workshop. "Why are we here?"
Asked Santa.
"I want to shrink myself and make boxes"
"Ho Ho Ho! You silly elf!"
"You'll see what I mean" Said Buddy and that's when
the elf on the shelf started...

Buddy came out with a box and a small elf in it. "We
well ship elves to kids homes to watch them without
moving at all to see how good they are being and when
everyone is asleep the elf well un-freeze and hide in a
different spot so when the kids wake up in the morning
they get to go find their elf. On Christmas eve all the
elves well fly home and help the others prepare for
next Christmas!" Said Buddy to Santa. "Very good
idea." Said santa "But, if the children touch them my
magic well disappear." Buddy did not look as worried
as Santa thought he would be, and he was glad. "I well
go get to work then" Said Buddy joyfully then he
walked away.

Weeks have passed since half of the elves left to check
who's naughty and who's nice and Santa was getting a
lot more information for his list. He added lots of kids to
the nice list but there are still a lot of people on the
naughty list. "Oh No No!" Said Santa disappointed. "I
wish the children would get nicer." He walked over to his
child gazing ball and saw Emily sitting on her couch
watching the movie "Elf". "That reminds me. I need to
check what facts Emma, Emily's elf found" Santa
thought while sipping on a mug of hot chocolate. He
walked over to his "Elf communicator 2000" and started
talking to Emma. Sadly the proof showed that Emily was
on the naughty list. Santa was very sad. He never
thought she was that bad.

"Hello dear, any luck with the list?" Asked Mrs. Claus.
"Thanks for asking but there is a big problem, Emily
switched to the naughty list..." Replied Santa. Mrs.
Claus was shocked. "Emily!? I didn't know she was that
bad." There was a moment of silence until one of the
elves marched inside the room. "Santa! Emma just
called Emi-" He stopped when they saw the smoke
coming from the oven where cookies were being
cooked. Mrs. Claus ran over and put it out with her
oven gloves. Santa needs a plan to get Emily on the
nice list but it is going to be hard.

"Mom! Look where the elf is hiding this morning!"
Emily said happily pointing to Emma. "She has a
letter in her hand, I wonder what it says!" The letter
said:

This is Santa, I have a important
message for you. You are sadly on
the naughty list. I am sorry. I am
hoping that you get better. I
always believed you would. I am
very disappointed. Sorry.
