This book is about appearance bias in the workplace.

    The first character is Bob. He is a very overweight and unattractive male who sits in his basement all day and expands his knowledge about investment banking. Bob is trusted by many major companies' investments and is a very smart person. 

    The second character is Steve. He is a very attractive male who spends all of his money on beauty products and clothing to make himself appear better. His good looks often get him better results with his clients but he lacks overall knowledge about his profession.

Hi there, I'm Bob

The setting of this appearance bias story is at a huge investment company on Wall Street in New York City. Today, they are both applying for the same job at this company.  

During the interview, Bob could tell that the employer didn't like him, but he didn't know why because after talking to the other candidates he realized that he was much more qualified than all of them. When Bob was waiting for the results there was a guy that he talked to earlier, Steve, who didn't really have any qualifications for the job walking into the room with the employer. Then Bob got the news that Steve got the job.
