There once was a giraffe named Gino. He was
the tallest animal in all of Dream Park Zoo. He
had five hundred and twenty six spots all over
his body.

Gino loved to live in Dream Park Zoo.
The zookeepers were friendly, and his
best friends, Macy the Monkey, Ellie
the Elephant, and Louie the Lion, lived
in the pens right next to him.

One day, Gino went to Macy's pen. "Do you want to play, Macy?"
"Sure!" said Macy,"I am just swinging on these vines! You can too!"

Macy reached for the vine with her hand and started to swing. Gino
tried to swing from the vine with his long neck, but he fell down. He
could not play the game that Macy was playing, so he left.

Next, Gino went to visit Ellie. "Hello, Ellie!"
"Hello, Gino! Do you want to drink water with me?" Ellie asked.

Ellie walked to the pond and scooped up water with her long trunk.
Gino tried to reach for the water with his spotted neck, but he
could not bend down as far as she could. He could not drink water
with Ellie, so he left.

Gino walked to Louie's pen, hoping to play with him. "What are you
doing, Louie?"
"I am just laying on this rock in the sun," Louie said. "You can lay
here next to me."

Louie stretched out on the big rock and yawned. Gino climbed onto
the rock, but he could not lay down. He was too big to fit on the
rock like Louie, so he left.

Gino had no one else to play with, so he went back
to his own pen and began to cry.

"I am too tall," said Gino to himself. "I cannot play
the games that Macy plays, drink water with Ellie, or
lay on the big rock like Louie. I wish I was as small as
an ant."

The next day, Gino did not go out to play
with any of his friends. He stayed in his
pen, all alone and sad.

Macy, Ellie, and Louie were
worried about their friend.
When they saw him looking
sad, they asked him what was
wrong.

"Gino, are you okay?" Macy asked.
"Yes, I'm alright," Gino said sadly.
"Do you want to come play?" Ellie asked.
"No, you all go ahead."
"Please come and play!" Louie said.
"No, thanks."

Gino wanted to play, but he could not do any of
the things that they could. He just wanted to
be shorter.

Later that day, Gino stayed in his pen,
and Ryan the Zookeeper came to feed
him. "Gino, are you okay?" he asked.
"No, I am very, very sad," Gino began to
cry, "I am much too tall. All of my
friends can do fun things but I am too
tall to do any of them."
