Hello there boys and girls. Today we will be talking about the Protestant Reformation

The Protestant Reformation is a time period in which people staring rebelling from the Catholicchurches when they realized that they could have ideas of their own and the church was exploiting them.

This all started when a man called Martin Luther - not Martin Luther King Jr. or Martin Luther King! - wasone day walking down a street when a sudden storm came and he prayed to Saint Anna that if he lived that he
he would become a monk.

It turns out that he lived and he stuck to his word. He got up, left school, sold his books and went to a school to become a monk, like the one below.

So in time he learned to be a monk. But one day he went on an expedition to Rome and whathe found surprised him.

He found that people were prostituting themselves on the side of the streets and priests were rushing through their sermons. Also, higher status people in the church
were buying the prostitutes.

Martin was very unhappy about this and he felt there needed to be a change. So he wrote the 95 Theses. The 95 Theses challenged the teachings of the Catholic Church on the nature of penance.
The penance was a piece of paper that you can pay for that is basically a "Get Out of Hell for Free"
card.
