The legend of Mureș and Olt
Once upon a time, there were two brothers, Mureș and Olt, who set out in search of their father.
Although they initially traveled together, their differences caused them to part ways, each taking a different path. Mureș followed a gentler route, while Olt took a more tumultuous one, both transforming into rivers that traverse the land and symbolize the different nature of people in search of their destiny.
Today, we can see the Mureș River because it flows right through our town.

In ancient times, long before the Romans, gentle fairies, delicate and almost unattainably beautiful, flew over the serene lands of Istria. At night, they danced joyfully and playfully across magical meadows and hills, while during the day, they hid from humans. Being fairy builders, one night they came up with the idea of constructing their own city. They diligently carried stones from Mount Učka, sweat dripping from their moonlit brows. Carefully placing the stones in a circle, they built row upon row of an imposing structure, hurrying to finish their work before sunrise. When the first roosters crowed, the fairies, as true creatures of the night, hid in their secret shelters away from human eyes. Behind them, scattered stones remained from Učka to the sea, left in their panic to avoid being seen by people. The Pula Arena was left unfinished, without a roof. The amazed locals could only explain its creation as the work of mysterious forces, which is why the amphitheater in Pula is also known as the City of Divić.

The bear tricked by the fox
Once upon a time there was a fox who, seeing a peasant with a cart of fish, pretended to be dead and, getting into the peasant's cart, stole as much as he could. The bear that saw her asked her how he could catch so much fish. The cunning fox told him to go to the pond, put his tail in the water and wait. The bear remained with its tail in the water. The water froze and so the bear was left without a tail.

It is said that once, the Sun took the form of a handsome young man who went down to a village to play in the choir. Only, he is kidnapped by a kite and then imprisoned. Then the whole world was sad. The birds stopped chirping, the flowers stopped blooming. One day, another brave young man decided to go save the sun. After long searches he finds the kite's house. He fights him and although he is injured, he manages to free the sun. The sun rises in the sky, shining and making the whole world happy. But the brave young man was wounded and his warm blood dripped onto the snow. Where the blood dripped, a tender snowdrop sprouted. Since then, the boys weave a red and a white thread and give them to the girls. Red symbolizes the blood of the young, and white, the purity of the snowdrop, the first flower of spring.

The Magic Bell of Bistrița"
A long time ago, in a small town called Bistrița in Romania, there was no rain for many weeks. The plants were dry, the animals were thirsty, and people were very worried.
One day, an old woman named Ana told the people, “Ring the big bell in the church every evening for seven days. Then the rain will come.”
The people listened to her. Every evening, as the sun went down, the bell rang across the hills.
On the seventh day, dark clouds came. The wind blew, and soon, it started to rain! The people were so happy. They danced and laughed in the rain.
From that day, the bell in Bistrița was called “the magic bell.” People believed it could bring hope and good things.
Even today, people in Bistrița remember this story and smile when the bell rings.

The breaking of the Pomegranate
The Breaking of the Pomegranate is a traditional Greek custom that takes place on New Year’s Day. The pomegranate, a symbol of fertility, abundance, and good fortune, is smashed at the entrance of the house to bring prosperity and happiness to the family. The head of the household breaks the pomegranate with force at the doorstep while making wishes. The more seeds that scatter, the greater the blessing and good luck for the new year.

The Legend of The Valley of Hope
As the legend goes (as per the famous book Naghrfu l-Leggendi Maltin by Guido Lanfranco), a young girl was gathering grass in a field in Mosta when she heard voices in the distance. Two corsairs were hiding and started chasing the girl. She was far from home and needed to find a hiding place, so she went into a nearby cave.
She began praying to Our Lady to save her. A spider appeared and began weaving a web at the cave’s entrance and once the corsairs arrived, they just kept going – because how could she be in there if the web was still intact?
One can still find a chapel at Wied Speranza which was completed in 1761. It’s well taken care of, and a feast is also celebrated in November. The infamous cave is situated underneath the chapel and there’s a statue that depicts the girl praying on her knees, along with statues of St John and St Luke.

The lamp of Saint Demetrius
An old woman named Żgugina lived with her son in an old house in the village of Għarb in Gozo. They lived close to the chapel of San Dimitri and Żgugina would go there praying everyday for San Dimitri to offer protection to her son. It was a time when pirates would often attack the Maltese Islands. One day a ship full of pirates landed near Għarb.
These pirates attacked the village and also took Żgugina’s son in chains as a slave. Żgugina went into the chapel and prayed in front of the painting of San Dimitri; she made a vow that if he would save her son she would light a votive lamp everyday in the chapel.
The story says that at this point Żgugina saw the painting moving, and out of it came San Dimitri on his white horse. The Saint went on the sea chasing the pirates’ ship. Żgugina continued praying and some time later Dimitri returned with Żgugina’s son in his arms, and the Saint went back in the painting. Żgugina continued to light the votive lamp each day of her life. Many years passed, and an earthquake shocked the land and the chapel fell into the sea where it lay undamaged on the seabed.

'Eat, My Fur, Eat'
One day, they invited Nasreddin Hodja to dinner. How could Nasreddin Hodja know? He attended the invitation in his daily attire. He saw that those who attended with stylish clothes were respected. Nasreddin Hodja went to a jogging house, put on his embroidered fur and returned to dinner. Those who couldn't even say welcome a minute ago bowed to the ground in front of him. They praised Hodja so much that Hodja was very surprised by this situation. They put the best food in front of him. Everyone was waiting for Hodja to start eating. On the one hand, the teacher waves his fur sleeve towards the food on the table, and on the other hand, he says, "Eat, Fur, eat, Fur, eat!" he says. Those who see withconfused eyes;
- Those who saw fur entering the food said, "Oh my God, where has fur been seen eating?"
Nasreddin Hodja quickly put the stone in its place:
– We wouldn't be considered humans without fur... My fur is famous, it should eat the food.

One quiet day, Laila saw her grandmother planting in the garden of the house. Laila asked her, “What are you planting, grandmother?” The grandmother answered: Plant the blessed olive tree, don’t you know it, Laila? Laila replied: I know it, grandmother, but why do you plant it? Don't you know, grandmother, that a dinosaur suddenly comes to our village, destroying homes and uprooting trees? The grandmother said: Yes, I know, my little one, but no matter how strong and destructive he is, I will remain stronger than him and grow again

Woman's Daughter and the Old Man's Daughter by Ion Creangă
An old woman and an old man each had a daughter. The old man's daughter was kind and hardworking, while the old woman's daughter was mean and lazy. Later, the two girls set out to seek their fortune in the world. The old man's daughter encountered a bread oven, a well, a pear tree, and a little dog, all of which she helped. She then reached Saint Sunday’s house, where she cared for the home and the animals. As a reward, she received a small chest. The old woman's daughter met the same oven, well, pear tree, and little dog but refused to help them. When she arrived at Saint Sunday’s house, she worked very little and chose a large chest as her reward. When the old man's daughter opened her chest, she found animals and gold. However, when the old woman's daughter opened hers, creatures emerged that devoured both her and her mother. In the yard, only the old man and his daughter remained. Moral of the story: You reap what you sow!

A long time ago, there was a huge apple tree.
A little boy loved to come and play around it everyday .He climbed to the treetop, ate the apples, took a nap under the shadow...
He loved the tree and the tree loved to play with him.Time went by...the little boy had grown up,
And he no longer played around the tree every day.One day, the boy came back to the tree and he looked sad."Come and play with me,” the tree asked the boy."I am no longer a kid, I do not play around trees any more"
The boy replied."I want toys. I need money to buy them.""Sorry, but I do not have money...But you can pick all my apples and sell them.
So, you will have money." The boy was so excited. He grabbed all the apples on the tree and left happily. The boy never came back after he picked the apples. The tree was sad.One day, the boy who now turned into a man returned. And the tree was excited "Come and play with me" the tree said."I do not have time to play. I have to work for my family. We need a house for shelter. Can you help me?" Sorry”,But I do not have any house. But you can chop off my branches To build your house." So the man cut all the branches of the tree and left happily. The tree was glad to see him happy but the man never came back since then. The tree was again lonely and sad.One hot summer day,The man returned and the tree was delighted."Come and play with me!" the tree said."I am getting old. I want to go sailing to relax myself.“Can you give me a boat?"“Said the man”."Use my trunk to build your boat. You can sail far away and be happy." So the man cut the tree trunk to make a boat.He went sailing and never showed up for a long time. Finally, the man returned after many years."Sorry, my boy. But I do not have anything for you anymore. No more apples for you...
" The tree said”."No problem, I do not have any teeth to bite" The man replied."No more trunk for you to climb on""I am too old for that now" the man said."I really cannot give you anything...The only thing left is my dying root,”
The tree said with tears."I do not need much now, just a place to rest.I am tired after all these years" the man replied. "Good! Old tree roots are the best place to lean on and rest,Come, come sit down with me and rest." The man sat down and the tree was glad and smiled with tears...
This is you and the tree is your parent. !!!!!
