There once existed a remarkable and mysterious breed of wolves, unlike any other in the natural world. They were called Jasmine wolves. Their fur shimmered in a vibrant shade of pink, a color so striking it seemed almost otherworldly. But their unusual appearance was only the beginning of their peculiar traits. These wolves possessed an extraordinary ability to vanish from sight, blending seamlessly into their surroundings as if they had disappeared into thin air. Perhaps most fascinating of all was their hypnotic power to lull other living beings into a deep, tranquil sleep that lasted for ten hours. Whether predator or prey, friend or foe, none could resist the soothing influence of these enigmatic creatures, whose very existence seemed to straddle the line between reality and myth.
The extraordinary pink wolves, once abundant, had been driven to the brink of extinction. A determined zoo captured the last of their kind, keeping them safe but taking away their freedom. Though well cared for, the wolves longed to return to the wild, their hearts aching for the forests they once roamed.
Among them was Vanilla, a wolf unlike the others. Born without the powers granted by the full blood moon, she couldn’t turn invisible or lull others to sleep. Because of this, her packmates saw her as weak and unworthy, shunning her from their tight-knit group. Despite their scorn, the zookeepers chose her to be the Guard Wolf, a role meant for loyalty and duty. Vanilla took her responsibilities seriously,
patrolling the zoo and watching over the animals.
But even in this role, she felt isolated. The other animals kept their distance, and the wolves barely acknowledged her. Yet, Vanilla stayed steadfast. Though no one appreciated her, she found purpose in her work, quietly hoping that one day, she might prove her worth to the world—or perhaps to herself.
On the day Vanilla was named the Guard Wolf, the announcement was met with scorn, especially from Kael, the leader of the pack. His piercing eyes locked onto her with disdain as he addressed the others. ‘So, someone has finally decided to join this wretched zoo,’ he sneered, his voice dripping with contempt.
Kael’s words stung, cutting deeper than Vanilla expected. She already felt out of place, and his open hostility made it clear that earning the respect of her pack would be an uphill battle. But she refused to let his words deter her. With quiet determination, she embraced her new role, even as Kael and the others turned their backs on her. Deep down, Vanilla knew that proving herself wouldn’t
come from their approval—it would come from her own actions.
Among the pack was Rose, Kael’s daughter, a wolf as sharp as she was ambitious. Even as a pup, Rose stood out for her remarkable intelligence. By the age of three, she had already mastered her alpha-bet, a skill that left the zookeepers and her packmates in awe. By six, she was crafting passages so intricate and eloquent they seemed impossible for one so young.
But Rose’s brilliance wasn’t limited to words. She was also a keen strategist, always observing, analyzing, and plotting. Unlike her father, who had resigned himself to bitterness, Rose had no intention of spending her life confined within the zoo. While the others sulked or accepted their fate, she was secretly devising a bold and
complex plan to escape—a plan that she was certain would free not only herself but the entire pack.
Though Rose had little respect for Vanilla, the so-called Guard Wolf, she saw her as a potential obstacle. After all, Vanilla's role was to watch over the zoo and keep order, and any escape attempt would undoubtedly cross her path. Rose knew she would have to be clever—outsmarting the zookeepers was one thing, but outmaneuvering a wolf who knew the zoo inside and out would be another challenge entirely.
Every year, the zoo held a grand harvest festival, a day when the grounds were transformed into a lively celebration. To the delight of visitors, the animals were let out into larger, open spaces decorated with autumn leaves and festive displays. While the zookeepers ensured the perimeter was secured by a passcode-protected fence, it was the one day when the animals felt a faint glimmer of freedom.
Rose had been waiting for this opportunity. She had studied the movements of the zookeepers, their routines, and even the way they handled the keypad at the gate. With her sharp mind, she had pieced together how to figure out the password. She spent months
planning in secret, carefully crafting a strategy to escape during the festival when the humans would be distracted by the festivities.
When the plan was ready, Rose gathered the animals and shared it with them. She spoke with conviction, laying out every step of the escape. Her intelligence and confidence convinced them, and one by one, they agreed to follow her lead. Even the hesitant ones, who feared the consequences, found themselves swayed by Rose’s determination. For the first time, there was hope of breaking free, and the animals prepared for the day that could change everything.
Rose waded up to the zookeepers, her steps calm and unassuming. They saw no threat in the young, sharp-eyed wolf, especially with the festivities in full swing around them. They were distracted, chatting and laughing as they prepared for the event.
Then, Rose did something no one expected. She exhaled a delicate breath, releasing the faint jasmine scent she had perfected over time. The smell was subtle at first, barely noticeable, but it quickly reached the zookeepers' noses. Within moments, their expressions shifted from light-hearted amusement to confusion, as the scent took hold.
One by one, their bodies grew heavy, their eyelids
fluttering as they tried to fight the wave of drowsiness. But it was no use. The jasmine’s power was too potent, too smooth. Soon, all the zookeepers were snoring softly on the ground, completely unaware of the plan unfolding right under their noses.
With the zookeepers still peacefully asleep on the ground, Rose quickly moved to the other animals who couldn’t turn invisible. From her hidden pouch, she pulled out small vials filled with invisible ink—her carefully crafted solution to their problem.
She handed the vials to the animals, urging them to pour the ink over themselves. The moment the ink touched their fur, it worked its magic. There was no shimmer or outline—nothing at all remained visible. One by one, the animals became completely unseen, blending seamlessly into their surroundings.
Soon, there was nothing left but the faint sound of paws moving through the grass, as the entire group, now
invisible, began their silent trek toward the gate. With the zookeepers still unaware and the path clear, Rose led them forward, confident that no one could stop them now.
