One night, Mia told her friends about a strange experience she had in the abandoned house near her neighborhood. She explained that she had gone there alone because she wanted to see if the rumors about it being haunted were true.
First, she had carefully opened the rusty gate, which creaked loudly in the silence. The overgrown garden seemed to come alive as the wind rustled through it. Second, she had stepped onto the porch, only to hear faint whispers coming from inside the house.
Mia said that she had tried to convince herself it was just the wind. However, after that, she had entered the house, and the door had slammed shut behind her.
Suddenly, the sound of footsteps echoed from upstairs.
She had frozen in fear, but curiosity had gotten the better of her. She said she had climbed the stairs slowly, her heart pounding in her chest. When she had reached the top, she had seen a tall, shadowy figure standing in the corner of the room.
Unfortunately, the figure had turned to face her and started moving closer. Mia explained that she had been so scared she could barely move. She thought it was the end. But then, she noticed something strange—the figure was holding what looked like a pair of glasses.
Fortunately, the figure had spoken in a deep, gravelly voice, saying, "Excuse me, have you seen my spectacles? I can’t find them anywhere! Mia had been stunned, but she had quickly realized the "ghost" wasn’t scary at all. It turned out to be an old man who lived in the house and liked to play tricks on people who wandered in.
Her friends laughed as she finished the story, saying that the old man had even invited her for tea and biscuits after she helped him find his glasses.
