The Sleepover Mystery
Illustrated and written by: Reed Phillips and Story Jumper

The coffee machine hissed and spit and made a very alarming sound, a sound that would make the hairs stand up on your neck. I guess the machine was not alarming enough because the two twin sisters working behind the counter didn't even hear it. That was how immersed they were in the conversation they were having.

Rere chirped, “I cannot believe summer break started today and I really am surprised that we’re already seniors, It is so crazy.”
Meg shouted, “I can’t believe it either. It seems like just yesterday we were freshmen!”
Their manager bellowed, “ Guys do you remember you have a job here at Starbucks?”
Rere responded to Meg by exclaiming, “ I am so happy the manager gave us the weekend off!”

Their manager shouted, “ You're not going to have a job to take off if you don't get over here.”
Finally the girls realized that the coffee machine was screeching and ran to the ancient, out-dated coffee machine while apologizing to their boss. This was extremely embarrassing. For the rest of the day the girls worked very hard under the watchful eye of their manager.

When Rere and Meg finally got home. They were extremely tired, but they had a sleepover to host. The twins invited all their friends. Lilly, Joy, and Patricia among others. It was almost 15 minutes later, when the first guest arrived, then the second, then the third and then all of them. In total about 7 friends including the twins. The first thing they decide to do is to go into the woods behind the twins house. It took them about an hour to leave because they had to convince the twins' parents to let them go.

They had a lot of fun, until Rere heard a noise.

Rere cowered while trembling, “ This is t e r r i f y i n g.”
Patricia was very far away so she yelled, “Ohh come on! We're okay.”
Then, dear reader, there was silence, an awkward, unbearable, and horrible silence. Finally after a long walk they got to the forest. After about 10 minutes they got to the deep part of the forest when….

POP!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! HELP ME!!!!

They were sucked into an extraordinary world of complete silence.

Rere trembled and her palms began to sweat as she saw the world she was in and then she screamed in fear but no sound came out of her mouth.

Meg screamed in joy but nothing came out.

Meg pulled out a small sketch book and wrote with great urgency, “ Where are we?”

Rere wrote very slowly, if in a very angry tone, ”We need to get out of here NOW!”
Everyone nodded in agreement and started charging to the door, but it did not work. It was locked! They looked for another door but there was none. Now everyone was freaking out!

Suddenly a Witch came and signed, ”Hello I am the Wicked Witch of May and I am here to tell you that to find your way home you will have to solve the riddle of The Troll on the Bridge Named Frederick.”
This was translated by Marigold, who had been learning sign language since she was in 3rd grade.
