   Kyle was tired. He knew he had to keep 

going, but he couldn't. He was about to pass 

out.

   You see, Kyle is a very strong runner. He is 

only fourteen years old, but he is already 

running a half-marathon. He is sweating and 

wants to quit.

   He is only at mile seven right now, and is 

near the very back of the pack. He is running 

along with his rather strict father. Dad is a 

very good runner himself, and wants Kyle to 

be like him eventually.

   However, he sometimes pushes Kyle too 

hard and puts a lot of pressure on him. That is 

how Kyle felt right now.

   Minute by minute, Kyle is feeling more tired 

than ever. Worse, his dad is pulling ahead of 

him by the second.

   Kyle is running at a pace of about seven 

minutes per mile, so he will probably end with 

a time of about two hours because he will most 

likely slow up at the end.

   At the two hours and twelve minute mark, 

he finished. He was exhausted, sweaty, and 

worn out. But he had done it.

   Moral: When you set your mind to 

something, don't give up right away when 

something gets tricky. Always push on.
