Hello earthlings, I'm Alienated Aaron and I'm from Kepler 22B. I don't know anything about humans, but I want to learn about the Space Race. 

 Let's go to the past in my reindeer sled time machine.

Old Konstantin, so wise and grand
He dreamed of flight beyond the land.
In 1883, his plans took shape

to make people go into outer space

I'm Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, I came up with the idea of space flight.

Who are you? What did you do? 

In 1947, rockets flew
At White Sands, they zoomed right through.
With fruit flies sent on a spacey whim,
To see what space would do within!

Uh oh, I think they made a mistake. I'm not a bug!

On October 4th, 1957, the Sputnik would ascend

The soviets would be sure to make it the trend

To show that their bright red flag  

Would make the people in the US mad.

But 3 months later, the US showed their own, 

Starting the space race and setting the tone 

It's kind of dark out here. Can someone come get me?

The soviets wanted to prove that they were great,

And on November 3, 1957, they sent a saint

From Moscow's streets to cosmic flight

She braved the dark, she braved the night

Her fleeting breath is a whispered name, 

but history still burns with Laika's flame

I HAVE A FRIEND! But no way home

On January 28th, 1958, 

the US sent their Explorer into Space.

Competing with Russia, despite their dismay, 

The US showed their formidable display

What is this?

On September 12, 1962, no doubt,

Kennedy spoke, made the world hear him out.

A remedy for serenity, charged with supremacy,

Boosting intensity, testing the enemy

He needed a ship to take a trip to the Moon

A boon well done, and he needed it soon

We should send someone to the moon!

We'll do it by noon!
