Lenny looks out of his window one sunny morning and sees trash scattered all over his neighborhood. He wonders why there’s so much plastic everywhere.

Lenny walks outside and picks up a plastic bottle. “Why do we have so much plastic in the world?” he wonders. Lenny notices the trash seems to be everywhere.

Lenny goes home and talks to his grandmother. She tells him how plastic can’t break down in nature and harms animals, plants, and the earth. She explains that plastic takes hundreds of years to disappear.

Lenny imagines a big, scary "Plastic Monster" made of all the plastic bottles, wrappers, and bags that have been thrown away. The monster is growing bigger and bigger because more plastic is being tossed every day.

Lenny decides he doesn’t want the Plastic Monster to take over his world. “I’ll clean up and help everyone recycle,” he says with determination.
I'm going to help!
Lenny asks his friends and neighbors to help. Together, they start picking up trash in the park and along the streets. They fill up bags with plastic bottles, wrappers, and bags.
