Chapter One 6 Chapter Two 17 Chapter Three 33
Heidi ran down the street, with her best friend Abigail right behind her. Heidi Larson was excited to show her friend a doll she had seen the other day while she was with her mother.
Chapter One
Huffing and puffing Abigail said ''oh please don't run so fast!'' But Heidi was so eager to see the doll she did not hear a word her friend said. Heidi ran more, and when she caught up with Heidi she asked ''How does your doll look?''
Heidi smiled, she was more than happy to tell her friend about her dream doll. She started in a vivid description, ''Her eyes' are embroidered, there black and her mouth is pink'' then she paused, as the doll's lovely smile came into her head.
''And'' Heidi added, '' she has a purple dress on!'' Abigail smiled. ''She sounds' like a wonderful doll Heidi'' Heidi agreed ''she is, oh, I have the perfect name for her'' she turned to face her friend. ''Abigail!'' she exclaimed happily.
Abigail's brown eyes grew wide. ''Oh you would?'' she asked. Heidi nodded, then she pointed to a small shop, in Norristown central. A place where all kinds of shops
were. Heidi rushed over to a store called ''Treasure Ally '' The two girls walked up to a large window. Inside there were handmade stuff dog's, cat's, horse', and only one doll stood in the middle.
''There she is!'' Heidi starred at the lovely doll. Abigail looked at it too. ''She is made of cloth!" exclaimed Abigail. Heidi turned to face her, ''why yes she is''
Heidi wanted the doll so much, she thought she should ask mom. Abigail thought the doll was lovely indeed! ''How will you get her?'' Abigail asked curiously.
As Heidi starred at the doll some more before she answered, ''my family has a Posing Competition every Saturday'' Abigail looked puzzled.
''What's that?'' Abigail asked as they slowly walked back home. ''Well a Posing Competition'' Heidi began ''is when me and my sister's and brother pose our action figures''
''And whoever has the best pose win's right?'' Abigail guessed. Heidi nodded. ''I, I hope I win!'' Heidi said. ''What do you win?'' Abigail asked.
Chapter Two
As the two friends walk on along Market street, Heidi said ''well an action figure'' Abigail looked at her friend and slowly said ''But Heidi, you don't care very much for action figures''
Heidi shook her head no, but she had the, 'I have an idea' look in her big, brown sparkling eyes'. ''Maybe I could ask if I could choose something different this time'' she told Abigail.
Abigail didn't want to sound critical, but she said ''Heidi, it's a Action figure competition, I don't think you could do that, you know?'' Heidi frowned.
''Yes your right'' Heidi admitted. For the past several Pose Competition's , everyone chose an Action Figure, and nothing else. Heid's family was quite large,
Mother, Mrs. Larson, a generous young woman raising her children with love.
Talia, Heidi's little sister, who is five, and loves Music.
Hannah, Heidi's nine year old sister, who Is good at school.
Daniel, Heidi's twelve year old brother who's Height hide's Love and heart.
Avia, Heidi's little three year old sister, who loves cake.
Abigail agreed, then she pointed to Heidi's beige house and quickly said, ''Goodbye!'' then she raced of, and added, ''I hope you win!'' Heidi smiled, she hoped she'd win too.
Heidi opened the wooden door wide. Talia and Hannah, Heidi's two little sister's ran up to meet her. ''Hi!'' said Talia, her long wispy hair was as bright as marigolds.
Hannah's hair was a lovely shade of orange too, in fact Heidi's whole family had the same color hair. ''Hi, where's mom?'' Heidi asked. ''She's in her room'' Hannah responded pointing her index finger up the stairs'.
''Thanks'' said Heidi as she dashed up the stairs'. Heidi found Mrs. Larson folding a green dress. ''Mom!'' cried Heidi happily as she opened the door, ''Guess what!'' Mrs. Larson looked up, her brown eyes' soft as can be.
''Yes dear?'' she answered gently. ''Oh mom, remember the doll we had seen at Treasure Ally?'' Heidi spoke quickly, ''Yes indeed!'' Mrs. Larson laughed, than Mrs. Larson added ''speak slowly dear'' So beginning slowly Heidi told her mother,
''I hope I get that doll, oh she's so wonderful, I even got the most perfect name for her'' Heidi paused ''Abigail, how do you like it mom?'' Heidi asked, her eyes dancing
''Yes, that is a lovely name indeed, but don't have you that doll, why some little girl might be asking for it right now'' Mrs. Larson's reply left a sinking feeling in Heidi's heart. ''But I could win her in the Pose Competition this week an...'' Mrs. shook
her head no. ''Dear that is quite an expensive doll, Sixty dollars' is a lot of money '' Heidi's heart beat faster ''but we have action figure's that cost load's more then the doll, oh mom please I really want her'' Heidi sadly said .
Mrs. Larson was firm this time, ''Heidi, you have not yet won the pose competition'' Heidi felt hot tear's pricking her eye's. Oh, Oh, if I cry I'd be a spoiled girl, and might never get the doll!, she thought miserably
Just then Daniel poked his head through the door. He was Twelve but small for his age, though, he was taller than Heidi and older. ''Mom, dad said he was going to be home in about ten minutes'' he told mom. Heidi turned around and quietly left mom and dad's room.
''Mom what's with Heidi?'' he asked curiously, but mom was on a phone call with Grandma Julie. She motioned Daniel to be quiet. Heidi sat measurably on her bed, thinking how bad she was.
Chapter Three
'I'm such a rat!' Heidi thought sadly, just then her thoughts' were interrupted, Daniel strolled in the room. ''Hey!'' he said brightly.
''Hey'' Heidi replied with fake enthusiasm. ''I know you sis, something's wrong?'' Daniel said, quietly sitting next to her. Heidi nodded sadly. ''Oh Dan! I absolutely want the doll at the window, but Mom said n...'' her voice started to shake and her lip's started to tremble.
Than she whispered ''no'' shamefaced she poured out her whole description of what the doll looked liked and why she wanted the doll. Daniel listened closely, When she had finished she felt a bit better. ''You know you just saw that doll the other day''
Daniel pointed out gently. ''Yes but it's easy for me to love a plush or a doll'' she told him. Daniel nodded. ''Yea!'' he agreed, ''like that time you wanted, what's that blue fur ball called again?'' he said, a twinkle in his eyes
Heidi laughed ''a Scruff A Luv'' she told him. ''Oh yea, and how about that doll you made, or that otter plush you found at the thrift store, or that dog, or...'' ''Ok Dan, I know, but she seems different'' Heidi sighed full of longing. ''Maybe ask dad to buy it for you when you win'' Daniel said getting up from the bed.
Heidi shook her head ''ha, ha very funny, like I'm going to win'' Daniel just shrugged. ''Well you never know''. 'Easy for you to say' thought Heidi. Daniel had won three time's in a row! Then the jingle of keys' went off as dad stepped into the kitchen door.
