TEACHERS: Eleni Mantatzi (Greece) and Rosa Giovanna Capristo (Italy)

On a sunny spring day, D2 of the 10th Primary School of Komotini prepared for a memorable excursion to the beautiful forest of Nimphea, the city's most important source of oxygen.
Apart from exploring nature, the primary purpose of the excursion was to clean the place of discarded rubbish and broken bottles that could cause fires during the summer months and endanger the whole area.
Full of excitement, the children boarded the bus with their teacher, Mrs. Eleni, and couldn't wait to get to the forest.
Once they arrived, they began to walk along its stone paths, admiring the towering trees and listening to the birds chirping.
As they were collecting garbage, a group of girls, with Anna, Irene, Despina, Glykeria, Maria, Anastasia, Ioanna, Christina, and Dimitra, noticed something small moving on the ground.
"Guys, guys look what's here!" cried Anna.
It was a little bird that had fallen from its nest!
The children gathered around him and noticed that his wing was broken.
"We have to help it!" George said firmly.
“If he stays here, he will die!” Dimitris said timidly.
Mrs. Eleni agreed and suggested that they take it carefully to the vet. Giannis and Hamdi took the little bird in their hands with great care. It was very light and trembling with fear. They put it in a box with some leaves and cotton to make it feel more secure. They all looked at it lovingly and spoke words of comfort as if it could understand them.
"What a little thing he is!!" Damian said.
"Yes, it looks like a small ball!", Mejnun and Ioannis said in unison.
“Be careful not to hurt it!” cried Basilis.

Arriving at the veterinary clinic, the doctor carefully examined the injured bird and explained to them that it had broken its wing, but with care and rest it could recover.
