" To all the little listeners and bright-eyed readers, may Ganesha's playful wisdom and joyful spirit fill your hearts with laughter and learning. May this book bring you as much happiness as Ganesha brings to our homes..........."

By a gentle sparkling river, where birds sang sweet songs and flowers bloomed in every color, sat goddess Parvati... She wished for a child, a son to share her love with. She wanted someone to fill her home with laughter and joy.

Goddess Parvati applied mud on her hands and thought of a wonderful wish.........

Then goddess Parvati used mud and made a boy like a doll out of it..

She gave life to the doll and now the doll was alive. It was not a doll but the son of goddess Parvati. She named him as Ganesha...
Ganesha was joyfully paying with his friend named Mooshak who was a mouse...Butterflies danced around him and flowers seemed to smile.

Goddess Parvati ordered Ganesha to guard the doorway and not to let anyone come inside. Ganesha agreed to do so.
Ganesha took his duty seriously. He stood tall and brave, his heart full of love for his mother, ready to do as she asked

Just the lord Shiva arrived with his companion. He was surprised to see that a small boy was guarding the enterance.

Then lord Shiva asked ganesha,"Who are you, little one? Why do you stand in my way?" asked shiva in his voice echoing.

Ganesha then politely replied, " My mother has ordered me not to let anyone come inside so i am sorry but you cannot go inside."
A great misunderstanding was there. Lord Shiva did not knew that Ganesha was his son neither Ganesha knew that Lord Shiva was his father. Because of this misunderstanding they both had a fight between them. And in this fight lord Ganesha was hurt.

Lord Shiva attacked with his trident on lord Ganesha. With the attack of the trident lord Ganesha's head got separated from his body and he shouted," mother", and flying over the sky it went over the planet mars.

Goddess Parvati came out of her bathing place and was very sad to see lord Ganesha's dead body lying on the floor. She was very upset and angry with lord Shiva and told him to bring her son back to life.
By now Shiva had understood his mistake. He said to goddess Parvati,'' My dear due to attack from my trident his head had fallen on the planet mars and to tell you the truth chopped head cannot be matched with the body again so please forgive me my dear its impossible to make ganesh alive again."
