Many years ago, in a small village by a river, there lived a woman named María, renowned for her great beauty and deep love for her children. However, her life took a tragic turn when her husband left her for another woman. María, consumed by grief and despair, took her children to the river and, in a moment of madness, let them go. Shortly after, while she was walking near the river, she realized what she had done, and her regret was overwhelming, but it was already too late.

From that fateful night on, María began to wander through the nearby villages, crying and searching for her children. The villagers said they could hear her lament: "Oh, my children!" echoing through the dark nights near the river. Her spirit, trapped between remorse and sorrow, turned into a terrifying yet tragic figure known as La Llorona.
