There once was a couple whose origins traced back to the time of blood and murder. The vampires ruled at this time, and everyone followed their orders. The couple was bit by a vampire one evening and they grew menacing fangs. They struggled through life, using blood as their main source of energy. But then they gave birth to a child. And this is her story.
Morgan Miller knew none of it was supposed to happen. She was never supposed to be born, raised by dragons, and told she was chosen to save every living thing. But it happened anyway. And that was that. Now on with the story... Morgan tossed in her lavender bed sheets and crinkled the pillowcase with her fist. The day ahead loomed over her as the twinkly black night faded into a foggy morning gray. All the dragons were up. But Morgan was not a scaly, winged reptile like them. The dragons who had raised her were still adjusting to the human in their household. Venus and Pluto were screeching as fire billowed through the fog.
Morgan groaned and sat up. Mercury smiled kindly and clawed a lemon towards the weary Morgan. Venus and Pluto slashed at one another until the fog cleared and a slither of sunlight shone into the damp cave. Morgan peered into the endless crowd of mythical beings outside. She was raised in the world of Mythica, where every breathing creature had magic. No people inhabited the land, and most of the residents had never even heard of humans. But Morgan had. She had tried to explain that she was not a fleshy-pink alien from no where. Venus and Pluto flopped down next to her and scarfed down the lemon. " Juicy lemon..." Pluto murmured.
Venus raised her talons and Pluto received a deep, ugly scar down his neck. Neptune stormed into the room and thumped his tail down to the rocky pebbles covering the floor. Annoyed and unhappy, Morgan reached for the lemon and took a bite. It was bitter and disgusting. She spat it out with a sour look on her face. As the sun rose up higher, the dragons breathed elements into the air and Morgan coughed through the thick cloud of unwanted chemicals they had created. A shout from outside caught her ear. It was Juliet, a water sprite who had befriended Morgan the year before. Juliet waved her hands from side to side, beckoning Morgan's attention.
Morgan snatched her satchel from the coat rack outside her private bedroom. The bedroom had been constructed by Mercury an Neptune, who were like a mother and father to her. Mercury cared for the baby dragons during the day. She was the proud mother of Venus and Pluto. Neptune could be a grump at times,
but Morgan loved him the same way she loved Mercury. When she arrived at Juliet's side, Juliet elbowed Morgan and unfolded a scroll from her belt bag. " Look!" Juliet squealed, her indigo curls bouncing as she hopped on her toes. Morgan took the parchment and studied it, the willows rustling above her.
