In the Chinese Mountains where the fog billows and the grass is a pure green, there lived an old pheasant called Anming. He was not married and the townsfolk rejected him. But what most people don't know is that Anming could enchant objects.Every morning he made his way down the mountain he resided upon to visit the water.

Anming always chose a single rock from the bottom of the pond to take back up the mountain. Soon, he had thousands of pebbles lining his shelves and filling his drawers. One day, Amning strolled down the mountain to find a new rock. But instead he found a beautiful, sobbing woman and her two children. Anming decided to ask her woman from her hand in marriage, but he realized it was too soon.

Anming asked the woman why she was crying. "My name is Hua. I am crying because every evening the goddess Nuwa takes one of my children. I used to have 6, but I am left with 2," Hua explained, wiping her tears. Anming thought for a moment, peering into her inky blue eyes. Could he help Hua? He decided to enchant 4 of his rocks and give them to Hua. He knew that if Hua dropped the stones into a body of water, the magic would be reversed. Anming stated his plan and climbed back up the mountain. It began to snow, but Anming persevered. He hoped that his bravery might get him a wife.

That night, Anming took 4 rocks off his shelf and dipped them in a magic liquid. He muttered a spell: " When these special stones reach my new friend, it will all reverse and be nothing but pretend." the stones glimmered and sparkled. Anming tucked them into his pocket and cuddled into his bed for a nice, long sleep. He dreamt of his new romance.

The next morning, Hua showed up at Anming's hut.
Anming reached into his pocket and placed the
stones into her palm. The woman thanked
him and hurried off. Anming wished
Hua would stay but knew
she had to save her
children.
