Conflict Introduced

And the same thing was happening happened with Oedipus!
Conflict Introduced

Suddenly, Montag, Piggy, and Oedipus got pulled into the magic portal and felt like they were falling for a long time!
Conflict Introduced

And as the 3 slowly open their eyes, they see in front of them, 3 unknown angels they have never seen before!
Conflict Introduced

Then, the three angels slowly floated closer to the three friends and said they were here to help the friends learn to become better and happier. The angels say the three friends must learn to ways of Jen from Confucianism, Anicca from Buddhism, and salvation from Christianity.
Conflict Introduced

Suddenly, three magic mirrors appeared in front of them. The friends looked into the mirrors and saw how sad their lives had become.
Montag felt sorry for burning books and forgetting who he really was. Piggy felt left out and was bossy, which made it hard to be friends with the other boys. Oedipus was full of anger, and it was hurting him and the people around him.
Conflict Introduced

But Montag, Piggy, and Oedipus didn’t like what they saw. The mirrors made them feel upset, and they didn’t want to believe it.
The angels tried to help them understand and fix their mistakes. But sadly, the friends didn’t want to listen yet.
Rising Action

All 3 tried to fix their problems their own way.
Montag tried to use the knowledge he remembers from the books. Piggy tried to fix the problem by reading out rules he remembers, trying to create order and Oedipus became rude and harsh to everyone around him.
Rising Action

Montag, Piggy, and Oedipus kept making the same mistakes again and again. They ran in circles, and the longer they did, the harder it was for them to see what they were doing wrong.
Rising Action

And then, Montag, Oedipus, and Piggy all had a big idea!
Rising Action

They all realized that what they angels were trying to tell them, was right!
Rising Action

Montag realized the angels were trying to tell him to follow the values of Jen, based off the religion of Confucianism! Jen means being kind and caring (“Confucianism | URI"). It teaches people to help others, be nice, and try to feel what someone else feels (Weiming, Tu).
Rising Action

As he realizes that he should follow the values of Jen, he learns to be more caring and kind, to stop burning books, and to help out his friends in his neighborhood learn that books are good!
Rising Action

Piggy understands this too! He listens to the angels and learns that he doesn’t need to be the boss of everything. Instead, he should learn the way of Anicca. Anicca means that everything changes. It helps us understand that feelings, good or bad don’t last forever (Maden, Jack). So to live a better life, we should be calm, kind, and relaxed (Kadampa, Luna).
