Today we had safety class. They told us
how we octopi need to defend ourselves if
someone is trying to make us their prey when
their isn’t an adult around.
1.Blend into the surrounding area.
2.Try to squeeze into a small hole or bottle.
3.Barricade ourselves into hole or cave with
rocks.
4.And finally, ink the attacker in the face.
But, they told us not to ink our family,
which is pretty hard to do when they sneak up
on you.

Today at school we found out that we are
having health class for the next two days. I was
not looking forward to it. AT ALL. There was
an… incident… last year… uh… yeah… Anyways…
Today in health class they told us about what
we have to eat to stay healthy. The nurse shark
said that we should be eating shrimp, fish,
snails, crabs, and scallops everyday to stay
healthy. They also said that sometimes we can
eat smaller octopi, too. My brother was not
impressed AT ALL, and neither were
mom and dad.

It was our last day of school before the weekend
today, and it was also the last day of health class
(YAY), where the nurse shark taught us about our
life cycle. So she told us that first our moms lay
eggs, over a thousand at a time, and hangs them in
ceiling strands. Next, in a couple of weeks up to a
couple of months, we hatch and start to float up to
the surface and float with plankton. After a while, we
fall back down to the ocean floor and begin our lives
as baby octopuses and grow to adults and mate.
The cycle then begins again for the newborn.
After that, we got to draw our life cycles! Not to
brag, but mine was AWESOME!!!!!

So today, Sandy the starfish came
over. She said she was going to be here
in five minutes, she got here in five
HOURS! I wasted five hours of my life
waiting for her, which is important,
because we have a very short life. We
only live for one to two years in the wild.
When she got here, we played my
favorite game. Although, I can’t say the
same for Sandy.

Today I had to go to the doctor, because I was
playing fit into the bottle, and I got stuck. I LOST.
They weighed and measured me. I am 14
inches long and 6.6 pounds, which he said was good
because the average height and weight of an
octopus is 12 to 36 inches long and 6.6 to 22
pounds.

When we were leaving I saw this new
crayfish named Carly. I tried to eat her, and
Sandy came and said she could be our friend
and not to eat her. So I spit her out, and we
became friends. Then she tried to eat me for
the fun of it, which didn’t work out very well.
Back to the doctor for me!

I saw a nurse shark outside of my house
today. I overheard her talking to another nurse
shark.
They started talking about a presentation they
did for another school, about octopi.
They were talking about our arms, our eyes,
our mantles, our beaks, our funnels, and our
suction cups. I asked them about it and they
said that they would answer my questions at our
schools presentation, TOMORROW!
I drew a picture to try to understand better.
Afterwards, I went to Carly’s house, and we
played ink the crayfish. Poor Carly!

September 29, 2015
Today at school, we had our presentation just
like the nurse sharks had said. They wanted us
to learn about our bodies.
Apparently it was an extra day for health
class.
After school, I went straight to my home, a
little den. Then I went to my neighbors house, a
small space under some rocks, and my other
neighbors house, a crevice on the seafloor. We
played ink tag. It wasn’t very fun for my brother,
but it was for us.

September 30, 2015
So all science period our science teacher, Mr.
Oliver, was calling us cephalopods. I think it is
another name or group for octopi! But, it got
really annoying!
Tomorrow is an unofficial Halloween! Sandy
won’t tell me what her costume is, which kind
of worries me. She likes surprising me, though.
I can’t wait! I hope we get lots of scallops,
shrimp, and snails, although Sandy is hoping
for oysters and maybe krill. We are complete
opposites!

October 1, 2015
UGH! So, Sandy's costume? AN OCTOPUS!
SHE LOOKED JUST LIKE ME!!!
I forgave her after she saw my costume:)!
We got back from trick or treating around 9:00
p.m.. I was so tired. When I woke up, a mean
shark came after me. When i was trying to get
away he caught up to me and one of my limbs
broke off, but my mom said it would regenerate
soon. It all ready started. PRAISE!
Sandy said that her limbs break off, too, but
her broken limbs grow back to another starfish,
a baby. I wish mine did that!

October 2, 2015
Yesterday we had a day off for unofficial
Halloween, but now it really IS the weekend.
Sandy had dance. I don’t really know what
Carly was doing yet. I have to ask her at school.
Anyways, Sandy didn’t like her ballet lesson
because she couldn’t turn. AT ALL. It took her
forever just to do one. I guess starfish don’t
learn as easily as octopi do. I would be able to
learn it like that!
When she got home we chatted on Underwater
Kik for a while, but my hands kept sticking to
the screen...
