Affirmative Action is used to protect rights and ensure equal opportunities for all people.
Bureaucracy

A system of different specialized roles that work together to make the government run smoothly. The US uses a bureaucracy.
Committee

A Committee is a group of Representatives or Senators that work together to address a single issue.
Delegate

A Delegate is a person that works to people the people in their community. They value their people and their values above all else.
Exit Polls

Exit Polls happen when people exit an election site. They are used to gather a rough idea of which way people are voting.
Filibuster

A Filibuster is used in the Senate to stop the movement of a unwanted bill. The longest one was in 1957 for 24 hours and 18 minutes.
General Welfare

General Welfare is the overall health and well-being of a society. An example of General Welfare in the US is Social Society.
House of Representatives

The House of Representatives is one half of Congress. There are currently 435 serving Representatives!
Impeachment

Impeachment is the process of removing officials from office. In order for them to be removed they have to have committed a high crime or a misdemeanor.
Judicial Branch

The Judicial Branch is one of the 3 branches of government. They focus on reviewing laws and making sure they follow the Constitution.
Keynesian Economics

Keynesian Economics is the idea that government should help stabilize the economy. This is especially true during times of depression or recession.
Legislative Branch

The Legislative Branch is one of the 3 branches of government. They focus on making new laws for the country.
Monetary Policy

This is the role that the government takes to stabilize the economy. Their goal is to achieve price stability and maximum employment.
Natural Rights

Natural Rights are rights that are automatically given to all people. A couple examples is life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Open Primaries

Open Primaries are where people vote, but do not have to choose a party to be affiliated under.

PACs are a branch of interest groups that help raise money for their goals. One example is the NRA PAC.
