Hello, friends!
My name is Billy The Eagle. I’m here to tell you about a very important book called the U.S. Constitution.
It’s like the rulebook for our whole country.

“The Constitution starts with the Preamble.
It tells us why the rules are important:

To keep us safe

To keep things fair

To help people get along

To protect our freedom.”

“Our government has three branches:

Legislative: Makes the laws (like class rules).

Executive: Carries out the laws (like your teacher helping you follow rules).

Judicial: Checks the laws (like the principal making sure rules are fair).

Together, they work like a team!”

THE THREE BRANCHES

“Leaders are chosen by the people.
We call them elected officials.

President: 4 years, must be 35 years old.

Senators: 6 years, must be 30 years old.

House of Representatives: 2 years, must be 25 years old. They make choices for us in the government.”

“The first 10 rules we added are the Bill of Rights.
They protect our freedom.

Some rights are:

Speak freely

Choose a religion

Be treated fairly in court

Stay safe at home

Share ideas without fear

These rules help protect liberty.”

“Yes! The Bill of Rights is like a shield. It keeps people safe from unfair rules. Example rights:

1st: Speak, write, and believe freely.

2nd: People can own arms to stay safe.

3rd: No soldiers in your house.

4th: Police need permission to search.

5th: You must be treated fairly in court.

6th: Right to a speedy trial.

7th: Right to a jury in big cases.

8th: No cruel punishments.

9th: You have more rights, even if not listed.

10th: States can make their own rules too.”

“Federalism means sharing power.
The national, state, and local governments each do jobs.

State Government helps with:

Schools

Roads

Parks

Driver’s licenses

State police

Local Government helps with:

Firefighters

Libraries

Trash pickup”
