Once there was a little acorn.

He was a lonely little acorn.

He longed to become big and tall like the 

trees around him.

"What do I need to 

become big and 

strong?" he asked 

himself.

A ladybug was crawling by and heard 

the little, lonely acorn.

"Oh my," she exclaimed.   "Don't you know 

what all living things need to grow?"

"No," replied the acorn.   "Can you tell me?"

"Why," the ladybug explained, "all living 

things need sunlight, water, and air."

"Oh," said the little acorn.   "And then I will 

grow big and strong?"

A crab crawled by and told the acorn, "Only 

if you bury yourself in the soil first!"
