Lunar Phases
The first phase of the Lunar Cycle is called the
New Moon. This is also a solar eclipse.

This is our perspective from earth of the New Moon or the Solar
eclipse. The moon is able to mostly cover up the sun. This eclipse only
occurs when the moon is in between the Earth and the Sun.

Lunar Phases
The second phase of the Lunar Cycle is called the
Waxing Crescent. Waxing means to grow.

This is our perspective from earth of the Waxing Crescent. This occurs
3-4 days after the New Moon phase/Solar Eclipse. This phase
continues to be seen bigger every day until the next phase occurs.

Lunar Phases
The third phase of the Lunar Cycle is called the
First Quarter. This is when the moon is half-lit and
is one-fourth of the way completed.

This is our perspective from earth of the First Quarter. This occurs a
week after the New Moon phase/Solar Eclipse. This phase lasts 3-4
days until the next phase.

Lunar Phases
The fourth phase of the Lunar Cycle is called the
Waxing Gibbous.

This is our perspective from earth of the Waxing Gibbous. This occurs
a week and 3-4 days after the New Moon phase/Solar Eclipse. The
Waxing Gibbous look like it's almost full but it isn't. This phase lasts
3-4 days until the next phase.

Lunar Phases
The fifth phase of the Lunar Cycle is called the Full
Moon. This also the Lunar Eclipse where the Earth
is in the middle of the Sun and Moon. The moon is
halfway through the Lunar Cycle.

This is our perspective from earth of the Full Moon. This occurs 2
weeks after the New Moon phase. The Full Moon is very full of
reflected light from the sun. This phase lasts 3-4 days until the next
phase.
