There was once a little girl named Caroline who loved to go to sleep.

One night, Caroline watched the sky nervously. She was waiting for the sleep fairies to come and tell her it was time to sleep.

The sleep fairies were stars. Caroline called the stars sleep fairies because when they came out, she knew it was Time for bed.

Caroline pulled out her pair of binoculars, and looked for the sleep fairies. They never came. She stayed up all night, looking for the sleep fairies.

That morning, Caroline asked her mother, “why didn’t the sleep fairies show up?”

Caroline’s mother sighed, and said to her: “air pollution is the cause of this. If people didn’t pollute the air, the stars would be here. That and light pollution, too.”

Caroline started to cry. “I don’t want to say goodbye to the sleep fairies forever!”
