This is Iris. 

     Iris cares for the environment a lot. she likes to volunteer to pick up trash, and she likes to garden sometimes, too.

One day, Iris and her friends were walking home from school, when she noticed smoke filling the air.

“Why is there so much smoke all of a sudden?” Mellissa asked, worried.

Iris went home to look on the internet. She was confused and wanted to know a little bit more about why the sky was so smoky.

After a little while, Iris realized that the smoke in the air was caused by fossil fuels. She also learned that fossil fuels could harm the Earth. When she heard this, she clenched her fists out of anger. She needed to tell everyone at school.

The next day in school, Iris’s class was doing a lesson about how people can save the earth. All of the other students sighed, as they thought this lesson was going to be boring. How was Iris going to convince her classmates to care?

“Many people think that people on earth are the reason why the air is polluted. While it might be partially true, I researched and found something else.” Iris explained. The other students were curious.
