Summary:
Things will never be the same for 5 students
from Blue Diamond Academy. Their lives will
be changed forever, for what is considered a
far-fetched reality. What began a science field
trip to the science museum will end up being
the worst day of their lives.....

It was a cloudy day in the part of the city
where Blue Diamond Academy was located at.
Blue Diamond Academy was still as sunny as
ever inside.....Or was it?
Blue Diamond Academy is the most
prestigious Private School in the country. A
place where all the smart kids go, where
competition runs wild. Eveyone would think
that everything would go by smoothly in a
classroom. But, you would be suprised at the
disorder that one classroom could have. Ms.
Light's science Classroom to be exact.

It was a normal day in Ms. Light's 8th grade class.
By normal I mean a loud, noisy, disruptive, and
incredibly annoying talkative day. Students were
going onto their own little private conversations
instead of finishing their assignments.

Ms. Light was desperately trying to get the
attention of the students, but it was all in vain. For
some students this was okay and they joined in,
but on the other hand.....
Some were not happy at all.....

Zero’s eye twitched, his whole body was tense.
“Guys! do you mind?” exclaimed Zero, his hand
signaling Ms. Light. Everyone gulped, they all knew
Zero’s reputation. They nodded nervously, the
room was so silent that you could hear a pin drop.
Zero gave Ms. Light a slight nod and sat back
down. Every sighed in relief and let Ms. Light talk,
fearing another of Zero’s outbursts.

“As you all know, today we will be going to the science
museum, so I want you guys to be on your best
behavior,” Ms. Light said, she glanced at the clock.
“Everyone please line up in an orderly manner and walk
to the bus in a straight line.” she continued. Everyone
lined up at the front of the class. Skylar, Alex, Jason,
and Shun were at the back with Zero. Zero was leaning
on the front counter, and glaring at Shun and Alex. They
glared back, green and Grey eyes met electric blue
ones. After a few moments the line began to move,
heading towards the buses.

As everyone went to their seats, the small group of
friends went to sit at the back. However, Shun and
Alex were a bit wary, Zero was also sitting at the
back. You see the three of them had a bit of
conflict between them. All three of them came from
Japan, to be specific all of them came from a very,
very rich Japanese family. However, that is
another story for another time.

The bus ride was just as noisy as the classroom, that is
until they reached the museum. All of the class went
silent, examining the building, deciding if it was worth
their time or not. The old arches and the design of the
building did not help, so the decision was almost
immediate. All of the students went to their usual
conversations once more. Since Zero, Alex, Skylar,
Jason, and Shun were the only ones who were quiet
they went inside with the teacher and started the tour.
The rest of the class realized that they were gone and
followed.

“They really need to pay more attention,”
mumbled Jason.
“They also need to be quiet, for pete’s sake this is
a museum!” Skylar whisper-screamed. She threw
her hands in front of her for effect. Alex and Shun
nodded, they did not say anything. Meanwhile,
Zero was glaring at them and kept his face
emotionless.
A model of the earth’s layers caught Skylar’s
eye, she walked over. The boys including Zero saw
her and followed.

As Skylar read the description on the side, Zero was
watching the short video beside Skylar. Skylar turned
and saw him. Jason, Alex, and Shun watched as well
and were soon after beside them.
“So, what do you guys think?” replied a voice from
behind. They all turned and saw a tall man with black
hair and hazel eyes. There was a nametag that was on
his shirt, which said “ Dr. Mikaze Nayami.” Skylar was
the first to react.
“Its interesting, but I wish that their would be more
details about earthquakes and the tectonic plates,” she
said. Dr. Nayami chuckled and nodded.

“Yes, its a shame that it is not in the video or the
description, but their is a special area dedicated to the
topic.” he said. This caught everyone’s attention.
“But isn’t that area restricted,” stated Zero, suspicion
was lacing his words.
“Well...it is, however, I can give you clearance to go. I
am one of the contributors of the display,” Dr. Nayami
said, cooly not angered by Zero’s reaction.
“You’re kidding....” Jason said.
“Far from it, now come it’s right over there,” Dr. Nayami
motioned to the display that said restricted access. That
was pretty weird, but then again there might be some
sensitive technology in there.

“Wait! Ms. Light will be worried if we don’t tell here,”
exclaimed Skylar. Alex, Shun, Jason, and even Zero
nodded.
Dr. Nayami smiled, “Don’t worry I already did, you see
we are childhood friends and I asked this as a favor.”
The five students sighed in relief and followed Dr.
Nayami into the display room. When they entered the
room they couldn’t believe their eyes, there were
detailed models, dioramas, and dozens of videos. They
all smiled like little children in a candy store, and started
to view each display. Skylar and Jason both went to the
earth layers model and absorbed every single detail in
the video that wasn’t mentioned in the first one they
had seen. Zero, Shun, and Alex were at the model of an
earthquake’s origin.

“The epicenter is the point above the focus, the focus is
the origin deep beneath the earth of an earthquake.
There the natural disaster starts, as strong waves start
to disperse like ripples in a pond....” the video said.
“I wonder what would happen if an earthquake ever hit
South Carolina....” Alex said. Dr. Nayami was behind
him and surprised the three of them again.

“Actually Alex an earthquake did hit South
Carolina. It happened in Charleston on September
1, 1886. A magnitude 7.3, on the richter scale,
earthquake hit Charleston leaving 5 million dollars
of damage and 60 killed. In those times that was a
lot of damage, nowadays not so much, but it is still
a tragedy.” he explained.
“That must have been a lot of pressure between
the two tectonic plates,” Shun replied.
