Cinco de mayo is known as one of the holidays
where people don't really know the true meaning
of the celebration.
Cinco de mayo celebrates when Mexico defeated
the french at the battle of Puebla.
Cinco de Mayo in Spanish means the fifth of May
therefore it is celebrated on the fifth of May.

Independence Day
(Día de la Independencia)
is a Mexican holiday to celebrate
the “cry of independence” on
September 16, 1810

September 16th is a very important day
in mexico's history.
Mexico celebrates their Independence
on September 16th.
They celebrate with parties, feast,
parandas, and more...

After mexico won their independence the new
country suffered. It was very difficult to change
from a colony to a self-governing state. Mexico
became divided into different groups such as the
Liberals and the Conservatives. One group
wanted change and the other wanted to keep the
old Spanish monarchy.
Liberals:They wanted a federal Republic
(kind of like the United States government)
Conservatives: They wanted to keep the Spanish
Monarchy government.
These two groups are totally different and they
could never agree on almost any subject.

The Battle of Puebla happened on May fifth
1862. Napoleon III wanted to establish a
french satellite in Mexico. Mexico did not
want that to happen, Napoleon went up
against the liberal government, Benito Juárez
was in charge. In the end of the Battle of
Puebla Mexico had an astounding victory and
we now celebrate the fifth of may as Cinco De
Mayo to remember that day.

Who is Ignacio Zaragoza Seguin?
Ignacio Zaragoza was a Mexican general he
helped lead the people to victory at the battle
of Puebla he is known as the Cinco De mayo
hero.

Why did France want to Battle Mexico?France started to attacking Mexico at the battle of
Puebla, because the Mexican government owed
France money. Mexico had some financial issues so
they quit paying the other countries and this is what
started the attacks. The English, Spanish and french
troops invaded, but the English and Spanish
withdrew and French continued to fight until they
were defeated by Mexico at the battle of Puebla.

United States???During the time of Mexico Battling France at the battle
of Puebla the United States were in the middle of a
civil war.
The battle of puebla could of been caused by the
united states, because of a war that the U.S had won
over Mexico it had leveled the mexico treasury and
this caused the financial disaster that occured in
Mexico
U.S Civil War
VersusBattle of Puebla
FAVORITE FACT:
From this project i learned a lot, but one
of the most interesting facts that i learned
was that Mexico suspended payment to
France, when mexico did this they left the
french starving, and this also helped the
United States by letting Abraham Lincoln
send out troops to the south to help
Juarez.
