This book is dedicated to my parents. They have taught me how to be the person I am today and I don't know what I would do without them. They have taught me so many lessons in life and how to become a good person.

I Am Poem: Life
I am a tree
I wonder about my survival
I hear animals in my surroundings
I see life pass by me
I want to live forever
I am the oxygen you breath
I pretend to stand above ground
I feel apart of life
I worry about being wiped out
I cry when I see trees replaced with cities
I am earth
I understand my importance to humans
I say I will provide quality of life
I dream of cleaning earth
I try to reproduce
I hope to sustain life on earth
I am a tree
I am poem: life
Response: This poem represents the way that trees see life and how it passes by. The phrase "I see life pass by me" is an example of personification and an idiom because life isn't physically passing them but it is like time when it passes by. I used personification in the phrase "I say I will provide quality of life" because I am talking about a tree and giving it a human trait.
Bio Poem: Courtney
Response: My Bio Poem is about me and what I enjoy. I used an example of a simile in the phrase "as kind as a compliment" because I am comparing my kindness to someone giving a compliment. In the phrase "sun kissed" I am using personification because the sun can't kiss someone but rather makes them warm or red like a kiss.
Bio Poem: Courtney
Courtney
Smart, confident, and as kind as a compliment
Sister of Madisyn and Brooke
Lover of summer, the river, and shopping
Who feels thankful for life, excited for the future, and glad I am healthy
Who needs a vacation, more clothes, and to be sun kissed
Who gives time, effort, and energy to cheer
Who fears getting older, not being successful, and not living life to the fullest
Who would like to see Costa Rica, Bora Bora, and Megan Moroney in concert
Resident of lakeside
Craft
Re-Creation Poem: Summer
As I walked down the street I heard bells
Store full of candies
Trees full of oranges
A dog barked as I passed by
I smiled like a blooming flower
The sun dancing through the trees
Flowers blooming in front of houses
As I touched one a bee came zooming by
The streets full of people walking
A perfect summer day
Re-Creation Poem: Summer
Response: This poem is about walking down the street during a summer day. It describes what they see and hear while walking. In the line "I smiled like a blooming flower" I am using a simile by comparing two things with the word like and showing that the smile was beautiful like a flower. In the line "The sun dancing through the trees" I am using personification by giving the tree a human trait and helping the reader imagine how the sun was breaking through the trees.
Stylistic Imitation Poem
Response: This poem is about the battle of Pearl Harbor when Japan bombed the navy ships in Hawaii. I tried to include emotions to really see how the battle felt to soldiers or how it was seen. The line "Men run like shadows across a burning mirror" I am using a simile. It can be imagined as dark figures moving across a burning surface. I used a hyperbole when I described "Nurses coming from a million directions to get to the hospital" to show the chaos of nurses running.
Stylistic Imitation Poem: Day of Infamy
At seven forty-eight in the morning
It was seven forty-eight in the morning
Japan pilots fly over Pearl Harbor
At seven forty-eight in the morning
U.S. ships in the water
At seven forty-eight in the morning
Men run like shadows across a burning mirror
At seven forty-eight in the morning
Bombs start dropping on ships
At seven forty-eight in the morning
U.S. soldiers fight back
At seven forty-eight in the morning
Men scramble to find weapons and planes
At seven forty-eight in the morning
Nurses coming from a million directions to get to the hospital
At seven forty-eight in the morning
Men screaming in pain
At seven forty-eight in the morning
A day that will in infamy
At seven forty-eight in the morning
Imitation of Federico Garcia Lorca's style in his poem "Llanto por Ignacio Sanchez Mejias."
Definition Poem: The Light
Kind: [kahynd], of a good or benevolent nature or disposition, as a person
Being kind is like a light in the dark
To be kind is to be a flower blooming
An easy gesture
Kindness goes a million miles
A compliment is kindness
A simple smile, a helping hand
Words of warmth lift the doubt
For every gesture
Small or grand
It makes a difference
Definition Poem
Response: This poem is about the act of kindness, I chose this word because kindness can go a long way in somebody's life. In the phrase "Being kind is like the light in the dark" it represents a simile because I am comparing the light and dark using the word "like." I am using an example of personification in the phrase "Words of warmth lift the doubt" because I am giving words a human trait.
Limerick Poem: Easter Bunny
Response: In my limerick poem "Easter Bunny" I am describing an Easter bunny hopping around looking for eggs. In the phrase "Then he began to start talking" I used personification by giving the bunny a human trait. This helps the reader imagine a Easter bunny as kids see the bunny and how he needed eggs.
Limerick Poem: Easter Bunny
Once upon a time a bunny was hopping
Then his ears started flopping
He went to find an egg
He started to beg
Then he began to start talking
