Once upon a time, there was a  box of bright, happy crayons. Every color had a special place, and they couldn’t wait to draw together. 

But Black Crayon felt different. While the others were bright and sunny, he felt dark and empty. He sat alone in the corner of the box, wishing he could be colorful too.

"I want to make beautiful things too," Black Crayon whispered to himself. He found a blank piece of paper on the desk and decided to try his best

He pressed his tip to the paper and began to scribble. He moved back and forth, putting all of his feelings into the lines. He kept drawing and drawing, watching the smooth, dark wax cover the bright white page. 

When he finally stopped and looked down, his heart sank. His beautiful paper was completely covered in dark, heavy scribbles.
