Hi! My name is Owlbert. Most of my friends call me old and wise. I have always dreamed of taking a big hike with all my friends up Sunny Mountain. In order for this hike to go according to plan, I need my friends' help!

During my many years on this earth, I have been in Owl Scouts, which has taught me the 6 essential items to bring when going on a hike. I need to ask my friends to bring a first-aid kit, water, sun protection, flashlight, trail food, and a whistle. I'm going to text my friends to bring the important supplies.

Hey Lily, I'm preparing for our hike up Sunny Mountain in a few days. Can you bring a first-aid kit?

Owlbert the Owl meets up with all his animal friends at the mountain trailhead, and is shocked when he sees what his friends brought! Lily the Lamb brought a single Band-Aid. Bandit brought a pail of water from the creek and Rascal brought a clear umbrella! Thumper brought a Christmas light bulb. And Betty brought cupcakes!

Owlbert says "Lily the Lamb, a Band-Aid is a great thing to have inside a first-aid kit, but it's not enough. A first-aid kit usually has Band-Aids, Neosporin, and tweezers for splinters and more!"

Owlbert says "Bandit! That water cannot be easily carried up the mountain! Rascal! An umbrella does not protect all of us against the sun!"

Owlbert says "Thumper the Bunny, there is no way that Christmas light bulb will help light our way if we are lost in the dark!"

Owlbert says "Betty the Unicorn, cupcakes are delicious but will melt on our hike and get very messy!" 

Owlbert's friends told him they followed his instructions and thought they knew what he wanted. Owlbert realized that maybe he could have been more specific with what he asked his friends to bring.
