OH-  NO!!!

AJ loves Dinosaurs.

Today, his favorite dinosaur breaks.

AJ is very sad.

He wants to throw his dinosaur in the trash can.

The Three As

His mom sits beside him

Acknowledge: "I see you're feeling sad?"

Accept: "It is okay to feel sad."
Assist: Let's take a deep breath together."

AJ breathes in....

Then he breathes out.

He starts to feel calm.

Word of Encouragement

AJ's mom smiles and says,

"You are doing a good job"

"You can solve this problem"

"I believe in you"

AJ smiles back. 

Positive Self- Talk

AJ tells himself,

"I can stay calm."

"I can find a way to fix the broken dinosaur."

"I can keep trying"

He feels more confident. 

Scaffolding

AJ's mom shows him what to do

"Let's try to put his head back together"

AJ watches his mom

Then AJ tries to help his mom fix the broken dinosaur.

The dinosaur head stick back together :) 

Success

AJ continues playing his dinosaur toy

He feels proud

He says,

"I did not give up!!"

AJ's mom says,

"You stayed calm and fixed the problem."

AJ learned that everyone has big feelings.

When something goes wrong, He can:

- Take deep breaths.
