Once upon a time there was a spider who was 

very hungry. So on her way to the lake, she 

passed some of her friends who were cooking.

First, she went to see what Mr Monkey was 

cooking. He was cooking a cake but it was not 

yet ready. So the spider took some of its 

spider's web and tied it around one of its legs.

She said to Mr Monkey, ' When the cake is 

ready, pull this string so I know when it is 

ready so that I can have some. '

Then the spider went to Mr Pig who was 

cooking pasta. But the pasta was not ready. So 

once again, the spider took some of its spider's 

web and tied it around one of its legs.

She said to Mr Pig ' When the pasta is ready, 

pull this string so I know and I can have some. 

'

Next, she went to Mrs Ant-Eater who was 

cooking a pot full of ants!

So the spider took some of its spider's web and 

tied it around one of its legs.

She said ' When the ants are ready, pull this 

string so I know and I can have some. '
