1. WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO WRITE LANA’S BIRTHDAY?

I wanted to start doing Petersons Short Stories so different characters could have their own little moments without needing an entire huge book.

And obviously, I had to start with Lana! She’s one of my favorite characters, and after all the craziness in The Not-So-Merry Christmas, I thought it would be fun to do something simple—just Lana turning 14, having a birthday party, getting presents, hanging out with Lina and the Petersons, and of course having a little Peterson chaos.

It’s short, simple, and cute—and that’s exactly what I wanted the Petersons Short Stories to be!

2. IS THERE SOMETHING GOING ON BETWEEN LANA AND JOHN?

Okay, I KNOW some of you are probably wondering about this after John’s present and Lina constantly looking at him.

John might like Lana a little bit… but Lana doesn’t really like John like that. She sees him more as a friend or almost like a brother.

So no, Lana’s Birthday is definitely not secretly a romance story! The awkward John moments are mostly just there for fun.

But will anything ever change?

I guess you’ll have to keep reading.

3. WHY WAS LANA’S BIRTHDAY SO SHORT?

Because it’s a Petersons Short Story! These stories aren’t supposed to be huge adventures like The Cruise or The Not-So-Merry Christmas.

They’re just little moments from the Petersons’ lives that you normally wouldn’t get an entire book about. Some might be birthdays, sleepovers, random disasters, or stories that focus on characters who haven’t gotten much attention yet.

So don’t worry—there are still plenty of BIG Peterson adventures coming!
