I am Viper and I have a story to tell. I'll be here in every book. I'm basically the narrator, so, let's get started. It's a true story, so let's get right to it.

Good tale! I'm in it too.

A long time ago there lived three explorers. One of which was named Viper. He had allies by the names Emerald and Rattle. They were a group of explorers. Viper carried a mighty blade. Emerald carried a magical map. With this map, she could see anything within a 50 mile radius. Rattle carried a mysterious torch which never burns out. They set off to explore far off lands.

When they were sailing across the ocean they ended up in a place called Scorpion Island...

the home of The Mechanic!
Viper had a history with The Mechanic, like when Viper ripped off his arm. Ever since then, The Mechanic wanted revenge on Viper as well as a new arm too. The Mechanic decided to steal a magical gemstone and framed Viper for it with a note that said, "This was Viper, wait no, Viper, Emerald, and Rattle, and definitely not The Mechanic. Nope, 100%, definitely not The Mechanic."
Then the people of Scorpion Island started hunting them down. Eventually they were found. Out of hesitation they decided to use Rattle's grappling hook she carried in her bag. They used it to climb onto a tree to escape the angry mob. Then they adventured through the wilderness once again, careful to watch out for any patrols, till they found a tree that seemed very big. They walked around to the other side shocked to see a magical portal in it which led to The Mechanic's lair. Viper said, "We found it!" Then, Emerald said, "no, we found him!"
When they stepped inside through the portal they felt a weird queazy feeling and everything flashed white for a second. The next thing they knew they were in The Mechanic's lair, but the portal they went through wasn't there. Then they heard The Mechanic coming. As eager as Viper was to finish the job, Emerald and Rattle convinced him otherwise. They dove behind a counter holding mysterious substances in bottles. One of which Rattle almost broke accidentally, swinging her grappling hook close to one.
